2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
Advice needed.

Hi
In September last year I bought a 3 year old Sport 2010 model. I bought it from a land rover dealer 300 miles away which they delivered, in my honest opinion it was delivered in a state for a £35k vehicle stunk of smoke and still does despite best efforts, a few marks to paint work 4 inch square what looked like remains of a sticker in the rear, they paid towards me getting them sorted local to me, crack in windscreen they paid for local repair, badly marked drivers mirror which they sent replacement, a few weeks later notice oil not topped up, battery went flat, noticed paint peeling off two alloys they agreed to pay half the price towards them getting refurbed, now over the last few weeks noticed bad rattle from front dash, rear boot not shutting properly and bad rattle also.
When I purchased the car because of distance I asked about any warranty work, they said take it to local land rover dealer I have just taken to local dealer, they said need to contact seller because dash need removing to resolve problem so take it home until we speak to selling dealer.
Today I get phone call from local dealer saying other dealer won't pay for any work for dash rattle and local dealer saying I owe them for repairs to boot,
Surely this should be covered by used warranty.

I think it will depend entirely on what warranty you have. If they've sold you the car in that state in the first place, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Stupid question but didn't you look at the car before it was delivered?? 2007 TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I did something very similar a few years ago, basically buying blind. The salesman described the vehicle as mint, and like brand new so did a deal and BACC money to them and got an independent hauler to collect van from dealer in Scotland and deliver to Somerset.
When it arrived it had dents and scratches all over it, all marked on sheet on collection, and the inside of year old van had teeth marks in everything including keys where a puppy had sharpened its teeth
After several heated calls to said salesman, I gave up when he said it was in mint condition for a van.
As yours has come from a dealer, I would get on to the dealer principal and have a chat with him or threaten to bring vehicle to him at their cost for fuel and over night accomodation while they resolve all the outstanding issues. I would think they are more likely to p for it in house rather than paying another dealer. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

The condition of the car from a LR dealer is shocking.
I had the same problem with a Merc Ml in September of last year. The car was a mess, even found a screwdriver jammed under the bonnet.
Considering they advertise there 250 multi point check on used cars, this was never done.
I eventually got a Solicitor involved and Mercedes UK, and got a full refund.

I would look on this site for a LR UK contact email and inform them of all the problems, it may be also worth a Solicitors letter.
Hopefully if you still have the original car advertisment, this will give you ammunition as the car did not arrive in the condition they stated on the advert.

Good luck with this Thumbs Up

Why not contact the Land Rover Customer Relations chap who posts on here?

You can point out yet another LR dealer who looks on customer service and satisfaction as something that only exists before you part with your money..........

Why oh why do people buy cars blind?

Unless you know the salesman on a personal level, chances are he will try and have your pants down given the chance.

I never buy blind having trekked 100's of miles to see "mint" used cars and discovering salesman lie Shocked

Presumably it should have 12 months Lr approved warranty so you should have some protection there Thumbs Up

Some years ago I bought a D2 ES ex Lr vehicle from my local dealer without being able to see it and when it arrived it smelled of smoke and had been treated like a van - full of scratches inside and out Evil or Very Mad

Salesman refused me a refund until I contacted the dealer principal who met me took one look at the car, apologised profusely and offered refund or replacement - I ended up with a brand new D2 with a big discount but that was when LRCS meant something Rolling Eyes

Try DP and LRCS and be persistent Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Thanks for all the posts.
They are saying that rattles are not covered by warranty.

My local dealer that didn't sell me it said they want at least £700 to remove the dash.

I think your biggest problem could be the number of months you have had it Sad

The sooner you take action the better your chances of getting it sorted Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

But it's only 6 months into 12 month warranty and not just out of warranty.
