Jack/wheel brace area dimensions

Anyone have the actual dimensions of the area where the jack/wheel brace/tow bar etc is stored? My car has black foam moulding in this area. i want to fit dual battery into this area. Along with a Traxide dual battery controller. Need something to help the situation along wrt to battery issues. I want to fit a pair of Odyssey 925M into this space. SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

You do know that there is a spare battery location in the engine bay don't you? On the opposite side to the main battery.

Have you tried measuring the toolkit area in your own RRS? Or is it the depth you don't know? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes I know about the area in front of main battery, in my car I have a 6 ton bottle jack strapped there as the OEM jack is rubbish. I don't have access to my car at moment I know the actual width/length is fine, it was depth I was mainly interested in. From memory I think it is about 135mm the actual depth varies a bit as it is not flat. Was trying to organize the bits so that it could all be done when I returned home Very Happy Thanks. SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

i thought the spare battery location was on the opposite side to the original battery, not in front of it (where the engine pre-heater lives) Mike

Ok. I will have to re check when home next I can't recall there being a vacant space there on my car. It was all pretty congested there (from memory).
Traxide vendor thought that putting battery in the load space area was a good idea, low, over axle, and out of heat etc. But thanks guys will check again re the area right front of car. SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

Laughing Yeah funny however I have looked under the plastic cover and inside was ABS module. All brake bits. No way a battery can fit in there. SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

Depends on the kit you fit I guess...you can see the ABS module in the image on that page. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thanks will have to re check the dimensions. It sure looked tight when I took the cover off...from memory...what is left of it.... Laughing Maybe need to go kill some more brain cells tonight to see if I can recall more clearly Very Happy However, when home will take it all off and re check. Maybe it is different after LRA have kindly replaced master cylinder, booster and ABS module bless em! SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

Just popped out to the vehicle and a quick measure suggests approx. 250mm x 175mm x 200mm high. Which is just enough room for an Optima YellowTop 4.2S which I think is what is shown on the traxide page Thumbs Up

There are also a number of threaded holes ready to accept the battery hold down strap - a suitable LR part is available I believe.

I'm thinking of fitting an auxillary battery if we ever get around to taking the horse trailer out and about a bit more regularly - just to help with running the trailer internal lights etc. whilst still being able to start the engine at the end of the day! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Just speaking to TIm at Traxide the battery strap comes with the kit. The only thing that is needed is the battery.
I will be ordering one today the thought of having additional battery reserve in the car will be a good thing. SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

Well guess what. It is me who can laugh (or cry) because in my TDV8 where the second battery theoretically would fit is a computer and wiring loom. The area is completely full of ABS module, wiring loom, and module. Not sure what type of module it is but is about 100mm square 50mm deep. Will have to contact Traxide and do a swap for the kit they supplied it will not work as planned. Back to putting batteries in the cargo area..... SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile
