MY08 vs MY12 Xenons

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but moving from my old RRS to new RRS I've noticed that the headlights don't seem to be quite as good on the newer model as they were on the old. Anyone else made this observation? 2018 RR Velar R-Dynamic, Silver/Ebony, Privacy Glass, lots of toys

Did you have the old car from new?

Yes, had the car from new. I have noticed that the older headlamp assembly was slightly bigger. I just wondered if the bulbs weren't as bright or the lense made for a reduction in light pattern. 2018 RR Velar R-Dynamic, Silver/Ebony, Privacy Glass, lots of toys

Headlights on the older cars are brilliant Laughing
Standard bulbs and lights up the dust on top of hedges. Only complaint with them is the active lights vibrate and move which is apparently " a characteristic of the active lights" Yawn
No reason why the new lights should not be as good unless they aren't pointing the right way. Had that with mine and had to be adjusted "using the computer". Did it myself in the end with garage door and an Alan key Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

ISTR reading that the new lights have a flatter top to the beam so they don't need to have the beam adjuster for driving on the wrong side of the road. I wonder if you're noticing the lack of 'kick up' in the beam on the nearside - this will make it seem as if they aren't as good because you don't have that reflected light from near the vehicle on the nearside.

Just a thought... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It's a good possibility to be either or both those suggestions. I'll run some checks on the adjustment screws.

Interesting that you don't have to adjust them anymore for continental driving. I hadnt got that far in the literature, but it would be a great move on from the old procedure and explain the lack of near side illumination. Thanks.
