Two reversing cameras for RRS SC + Large box trailer

Hi,

I want to fit a reverse camera to my '05 RRSport and another one to my large box trailer. I've read all about GVIF units, but they all seem to only have one camera input.

Ideally the car cam should be on when reversing up to the trailer and then the trailer cam should be on when I'm hitched up.

Some sort of simple dashboard switch? Has anyone done this?

Thanks Confused

Bodsy - fitted mine - I have the reversing camera & a Blackvue fitted to the GVIF unit. The reversing camera defaults in reverse & the Blackvue can be watched via the sat nav screen at the press of a button - so there may be a solution. I don't know how you would overcome the connection when attached to the trl. Sad send him a pm - he likes a challenge. Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Lovejoy,

Not a problem to do what you want to do. The GVIF unit has a reverse Cam input as well as three additional A/V inputs.

Only question, is how you want the camera from the trailer to be connected to the car. Either a Wireless unit or a curly long wire from the car.

GVIF will automatically use the reverse cam when in reverse. All the other time, yoiu can put on whichever one you want. Either by pressing the descrete button or using the remote control to change A/V inputs.
You can even have a splitter on the reverse cam input so it also displays on one of the A/V's as well.

I'll drop you a PM with my contact details. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Bit of work, but you could make the following set up.

A splitter that feeds both cameras to the GVIF reverse cam imput.

A toggle switch that powers either camera, car camera or caravan camera.

To make it neater you could use the output that tells the car that the caravan is connected to control a relay to switch camera automatically. A bit more wiring needed. '08 RRS TDV8
