Hi,

I have a quick question. I need to replace the battery on my 08 Range Rover Sport TDV8. Can I squeeze a 393mm long battery in the tray without modification? The one currently fitted is about 345mm long.

Do not fit anything different to the LR standard unit.

They appear to be very sensitive; the wrong spec. can lead to spurious 'messages' and, in my case, a blown alternator (fixed under dealer warranty) as the car was fitted with a higher capacity battery when I bought it.

I was planning on fitting a Varta Silver Dynamic. Which does have a higher Ah than the book spec. I have seen posts from others that have fitted this battery, but I am rethinking now.

^^^^ I found my TDV8 cranked faster with the LR battery - apparently some higher AH capacity batteries while able to give out more energy actaully can have a lower maximum cranking output.

I made the swap today for the physically smaller Varta Silver Dynamic. It has a 5 year warranty and is within the LR spec. The V8 fired-up happily enough, took it for a spin and all appears fine, so I'm happy enough too and ready for our ski trip in a week or so.
