Trouble Starting???!!!!!

Im after some help, my 2005 sport when its cold (sub zero only) struggles to start. Could this be down to the EGR valves at all?? As I have had the Glow plugs tested and are all ok..........................TT

Not your EGRs.

On a cold start, it'll make no difference if they're open or shut. RRS gone

best way to test this is to turn on the ignition, wait for the glow plug light to go out, then immediatly turn off the ignition and back on again...wait for the glow plug to go out again then turn it over. RRS gone

Ok Ill look into that. The main reason I ask because Ive been told it maybe Glow plugs and if it is it will be £2500!!!!!! because you cant get the things out without drilling etc etc, and if it comes to that I just cannot afford it and it will have to go, which breaks my heart!!................TT

It may have a leaking injector leading to low pressure, you can have a leak test done which will highlight this problem. If so it will be a new injector. You need to get it done if you don't it could fail completely and leave you stranded.

timmy, re the glowplugs, yes they can be incredibly stuck, but doused for several days before with plusgas or similar and then removed with the correct LR tool which stops any twisting, they should come out fine.
