I extended my warranty with Land Rover when the initial three year warranty ran out.

I had some suspension issues a few months back.

The garage had to wait for an engineers inspection and approval before the work could be carried out.

This delayed the fix to weeks rather than days as the engineer only comes out on certain days.

I was surprised as I though this was not necessary with a LR warranty.

Hmmm... that's a bit of a worry. Was this at a LR dealership?

IMHO based on my experience LR used to carry out warranty work without hesitation and provided excellent customer service but this has changed in recent years and they now drag their feet and look for ways to refuse warranty claims where possible. The emphasis is on new sales now not customer service Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

I had the same thing just before Christmas. The excuse for them taking 2.5 weeks to do the work was because they were waiting for an engineer to visit. Strange as using the same warranty at another LR dealership didn't require a visit even though the value of the work was much more. The engineer excuse was also the third version of the "delay story" that was told to me.

I think the "waiting for an engineer to visit" line is just an excuse used when they've overbooked themselves and are putting your work back so they can do quicker, more profitable work e.g. annual services. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It wasn't an excuse in my case.

The garage wanted to change dynamic roll bars initially but the inspection engineer only approved the pipe. 2009 3.6 TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

My rear dynamic roll bar was changed without recourse to an engineer's visit. It was chucking oil out in a very obvious fashion though so little chance of arguing that one. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Just before anyone commits let me tell you my deal I have with UVW (Used Vehicle Warranty)

It covers an average of 12 k miles per year although it can be increased, it costs me £606.61 including 6% IPT, and covers wear and tear. This latter element is the most important as it covers all those wriggle factors that others use to get out of paying.

My policy is the Executive Plus, includes break down, hotel, and MOST IMPORTANTLY I can get all the repairs done with my local LR dealer.

Have a look before you commit hey. TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx
20" HST alloys, Privacy glass, Side steps, Xenon Adaptive Lighting, Adaptive cruise control

I'm in the LR warranty camp, approved is better, select is still good from what I understand.

Previous vehicle to my current one required lots of 'love & attention' and the LR warranty & assist kept me mobile and also prevented me from having to deal with rather large bills along the way! --------------------------------------------------------

Not yet but one thing I forgot to say was that it's a policy that pays the dealer direct so you dontbhavevto pay first and hen recover. TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx
