England 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HST Java Black

I had a quick measure and there seems to be loads of clearance at the back, but nothing hardly at the front..

I dont fancy looking for another set of wheels and tyres for a weeks vacation,,,

So is fitting chains on the back illegal?,,, i am thinking more about the French moutain Police

Fitting chains on the rear only will make the vehicle a liability to drive because you'll have no steering.

Is the requirement to have chains in the car or that they are actually fitted? If you get stopped by the police and you have them in the boot, is that enough?

Alternatively is there anyone you know with suitable wheels that you might borrow? Perhaps ask in the wanted section here? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The manual states fitting chains on 20 inch now, but they are a specific type that only hook on the 1st 3/4 of the wheel Mike

Or breaking, particularly downhill.

Depending on weather and snow conditions, the french police have been known to put up roadblocks on the way to the mountain and only allow cars fitted with snowchains through. Having them in the boot is not enough in this case, you'll have to stay at the bottom until the police deem the road viable without snowchains.
