^^^^ Same here. I know I really shouldn't but you hear of issues with the EPB and I'm just a bit lazy to be honest.

As for the driving test you don't even have to apply the handbrake at a stop sign anymore. Days gone by you did fail for leaving your foot on the brake and dazzling those behind you. Not anymore, the test is getting easier and easier. You only get to reverse once and if you go the wrong way on the 'independant drive' section it doesn't matter so long as you do it safely! Shocked

Richard

Oh and at the risk of tempting fate I've had no issues with car it's been remarkably reliable.......

This is the first auto I've owned, and I spend most if the time popping it into P as it doesn't require the EPB to be applied. However I'm beginning to get into the habit of popping it in to N and using the EPB.

I've always been annoyed by auto drivers in front sitting at lights with their foot on the brake, so I'm trying not to be that person, unless I know I'm only going to be stopped for a short time. 2016 VW Golf GTD DSG

D for me, unless I'm stopped for a while. I do use the EPB frequently though as I was told with my Jag that not using it caused things to seize

Shocked Rolling with laughter

The parking brake is, as the name may indicate, used for when the car is parked.
Enroute, D is the correct mode.
Shifting between D and N or P while enroute is not required and causes unnesesary wear and tare on the plates. SW

Sometimes it is not enough to do our best;
sometimes we must do what is required.

I put it in N if stopped more than a few seconds and EPB on Thumbs Up

Was advised sitting with foot on brake can warp discs if they are hot and sitting in D puts strain on torque converter and can fail over time Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

In D for me, I may apply the EPB if I'm sat for a while at a particular set of light and feeling curteous to the driver behind, but in 95% of the cases, I stay in D with foot on the brake. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
