I tend to cut across their bows in to L1. Some take the hint and pull over. Most don't.

Undertaking is bad m'kay, but if I'm in L1 and I'm doing 70 and someone in L2 is doing 60 then afaik it's ok to pass otherwise we'd be playing musical lanes. If you're in L2 then go to L1 to pass them then go back to L2 then that is considered undertaking. |

Just be thankful you're not towing.

I'm pretty sure that you can pass them if you're already in that lane. If they decide to slow down in the middle lane you shouldn't be expected to then have to slow down in your lane to match their speed or to go behind them until they move |

You can stay in your lane and overtake if you're in "lane discipline" (or whatever the term is) i.e. you're in controlled lanes such as at a junction. However, just because you stay in L1 rather than going out to L3 and then back doesn't mean it's not an undertake. [edit] Here is what the Highway Code says:
https://www.gov.uk/motorways-253-to-273/overtaking-267-to-269 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

The trouble is... if they're the kind of person who doesn't follow the simplest of highway rules... how are they going to react to being undertaken.... I'm not going to take the risk having someine suddenly pull into the slow lane when I'm already committed... especially with a trailer on the back RRS gone Audi SQ5...Gone Audi Q7 S-Line 240 3.0TDI Gone Audi A6 Allroad Sport 270 3.0TDI |

I have lost the plot with these idiots for many years complete and utter pond life IMO. I read somewhere that they cause more hold ups and traffic jams than anything else in the country and if they pulled over, especially at rush hours, then we would have a lot less congestion. Personally I also blame the highways people for not acting more on this or mentioning it on radio stations. You could post something up on those bloody useless but expensive great black info boards for a start ( although I might not be as subtle as they would) rather than giving me old hand info that theres a tail back in Blackpool when Im heading along the M4 to Wales 2007 Black on Black colour coded TDV8 |

I seen this about two years ago on the A19 just before the A690 Sunderland turnoff, both lanes were travelling at about 40mph then the inside lane started to speed up to 50ish. I was in the outside lane behind a BMW 330 with a guy travelling on his own who was getting more and more annoyed and sounding his horn every now and then. As the inside lane got faster but ours slowed he decided to just jump lanes and sounding the horn again drove straight into a Focus ST that was being followed by an RS Octavia, the BMW pushed the ST into the hard shoulder and the driver was giving every hand signal not in the highway code to the RS who then turned on his sirens and blue lights in the front grille!!!!

Love it when the Mr Angrys of this world pick on coppers instead of innocent motorists.

You know what else grinds my gears? Ebay sellers blaming Royal Mail for parcels going 'missing' when they were never really sent in the first place! I've had this a lot over the last few months. Royal Mail get a bad name because people are too lazy/stupid/inefficient to send the items out on time.
