I would have had a SC if I had known that, I got scared with the 10mpg stories and opted for the tdv6

Tdv6 getting about 26mpg, down from 28 a few months ago. Assume it's a combination of fuel burning heater and electric seats, headlights ect. Same thing happened last year. I am going to investigate whether the fbh is switching off correctly.

You all should get better fuel economy in cold weather as all internal combustion engines run more efficiantly on colder densor air, that is why intercoolers where introduced, even petrol engines like colder densor air.

Yes, but using heated seats, heated windscreen, lights on, FBH running for a few minutes etc. all use fuel and so reduce mileage rates... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Have noticed a decline in mine recently, as you say RRSTDV8, seats, screens, heaters, all kill the milage so it's not all the bad weathers fault, but a change in habits too. Sad ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

17mpg in town for sc? Shocked find it hard to believe!

I wanted to talk mpg for a long time. First of all, I think mpg reader is a very biased thing. Have you ever noticed that when waiting at traffic lights the current fuel consumption goes down to 0 mpg? Logically you burn no fuel when stationary, however it reads quite opposite. This affects the actual reading quite a bit. Moreover, to get a true reading of mpg around town/motorways one should never reset the reader. Mpg is an average. For those who are not familiar with maths there is a "law of large numbers" which essentially states that to get a true average you need a large sample. You can have a busy week and therefore travel quite a bit and perhaps in a hurry, or you may travel less and have a more relaxed driving style next week. Thus you'll get different averages. So, do not reset your mpg reader every tank/week/journey. Avoiding resetting the reader often will also reduce the effect of 0 mpg when stationary.

Having said this, I have 5l supercharged and I get around 14.2mpg nowadays, but that is because I travel with my dog almost every time. Before that I was getting around 10mpg. Vadim A.

A while back I uploaded my map and re-set my mpg counter at the same time, this was followed by 3 days of short journeys into town at rush hour... my mpg struggled to top 19 in those 3 days.

Once I was back to my normal 30 minute commute (B roads and A roads with no queing) it's back up to 24-25, which is where it always levels off to.

Not noticed any real change in mpg since the weather turned cold mind you, but I do not use the heated seats much. RRS gone

13 to 15 mpg for my sc
makes a huge difference where you live to your mpg, I live in a hilly area, but when i was in norwich in October, i was averaging 20mpg even with regular town travel.
Also you get a better mpg and power in summer, if your sc coolant pump is wired the right way round. Most (Pre09) of them are not.

Interesting differences from all the cars. My last tank full on a TDV8 was a mostly short runs of about 3- 12 miles and one long 120 miler on motorway returned 23.2 mpg. Thumbs Up

Mine finally dropped to an averge of 7.9 mpg.. so decided its time for action.

Just changed air filter and maf sensor on my s/c, reset average mpg and after 50 miles of local town driving, school runs and no driving over 50mph i'm now up to 11mpg at the moment Smile

Allegedly my s/c was serviced 8months ago, but it seems the air filter may have been overlooked Whistle

Will continue to monitor,, wondering if an ecu reset is worthy of a try? Why?.. Because i can....
