2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Santorini Black
range rover sport reverse camera install

Hi guys, I want to get a reverse camera installed in my range. I have called a couple dealers and heres the minimum quote i got:

100 camera cost
500 for unit which allows camera to go into factory screen
150 labour..

I want the camera to work in the original screen
but apparently only nav tv makes them for my range and that unit is 500pounds.

Has anybody ever got a reverse camera installed. Is there any unit less then 500 pounds which allows the reverse camera to connect?

I have a 2008 range rover sport hse with tv tuner + sat nav

Help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

+ Found it thanks. How well does it work with the car. Also does your car have the range rover tv tuner?

and did you install it straight into the navigation head unit? thanks

listed under accessories at the top of the page, several different camera options. i went for a camera that mounts close to the tow bar cover as the install is easier, it has night vision and cost about £30. gvif unit is about £230 MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

there is a dvd unit under the seat for the sat nav. the unit plugs into that and stays under the seat then is displayed on the sat nav screen. all works well and looks factory fit as there is nothing to see.
mine came with tv and freeview but dont know if it was aftermarket or factory fit but shouldnt matter either way

it is all very seamless, when you engage reverse the camera comes on and displays on the screen and disappears when you disengage reverse. picture quality is great and i can reverse into a dark garage at night to within an inch or so with no problem. wouldnt be without it now

Hi Rigsby, Did your Range Rover come with the factory fitted freeview tv? I have the factory screens in the headrests too, do i have to purchase the multimedia interface or is there a way of connecting the camera to the factory screen without the interface?

Also with your camera mounted low down does it not keep getting covered in grime and spray from the roads?

Thanks

Lee

Hi Lee, mine has the free view but no rear screens. As far as I know you will still need the GVIF unit unless you already have one for the rear screens if aftermarket. Not had any issues with dirt or water with the camera mounted by the tow bar cover and gives a really good picture too. Regards Rigsby MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys
