Oh FFS...

So, every time (nearly) I hang a right, over rough road or on roundabouts etc...."Clunk....bang" from the offside front it feels like. I'm suspecting its the bottom ball joint. Thoughts???

Peed off really....only had it 5 friggin minutes. I was bloody convinced on the test drive it didn't do anything (I had a Disco 3 so specifically tested it).

Oh nuts and Censored Supercharged and proud.....!

Thanks guys....

Start simple and work my way up I guess. I know the ARB bushes arent a big job....i guess none of it is really....just a pain.

I have written a snotty to the dealer. Nice enough lot....but no technical facilities, so we will see what they say. As for warranty Muddy, i wont hold my breath. I got some with the car, but I am sure this kinda shtiff aint covered. I have a poor track record with warranty full stop. My Disco 3 had a extended Land Rover warranty.....worthless....before that, on a previous diesel Beemer (currently running a 530d too), had one with Warrantywise and ended up in a personal bun fight with Quintin Wilson himself over it....I wont go into details how that went!! The bloke is a Censored Censored Censored Whistle

Anyway..I will get my local, tame Landy guy who works at a specialist indy to take it to work and do bits I guess! Damn!

This forum is great.....lots of good peeps Thumbs Up Supercharged and proud.....!

Warrantywise is not run, nor owned by Mr Wilson, he's just the front man, the company is owned by a guy in Cheshire, I know this because my friend cleans his swimming pool Thumbs Up 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

Shakepaw....you're right, QW doesnt own it....and i would imagine the owners pool is Censored huge, as they dont pay out on legitimate, verified claims.....well, not on mine anyway! I dont want to start a W/Wise slagging match on here as its long in the past for me now.....butI dont forget easily.

Because of my job, i know quite a few people in the motoring press and in motorsport. I was able to get a hold of Mr Wilson through a friend of a friend of a friend kind of a do. I suggested that maybe he wouldnt want his name tarnished by the lack of fair play that was directed my way over a particular item on a particular car of mine and so he looked into my claim personally to try and help initially. PM me for details on the overnight, post meeting U turn he did on me Censored

Like I was saying above, it is just that in my experience, I will not hold my breath re the warranty i was given.....so will probably just carry on investigating and sorting myself Thumbs Up Supercharged and proud.....!

If you have only just got the car, and it was from a garage, then you will have a minimum 3 months warranty, i'd take it back and ask them to look at it for you.

I agree Ady. Like all these things though, the cost in time and fuel of going backwards and forwards outweighs the solution. The warranty doesn't cover these items I don't think and their own facilities are extremely limited, mechanically speaking.

Ive emailed them and will call if I hear nothing by mid afternoon. Its a bit disappointing....

Off out now to see if I can get the bloody indicator to work without engaging high beam!!! Censored Supercharged and proud.....!

I don't see why you'd even consider paying for the repairs.

The fault obviously pre-existed your buying the car so you have absolutely no need to meet the cost yourself after such a short period of ownership.

You should give the dealer the opportunity to correct the fault if they refuse or can't do the work to the correct standard you are entitled to get it repaired and give them the bill - you should get a quote and tell them before getting the work done.

If, after the work is done and you have told them in advance that you expect to be re-imbursed you can go to the Small Claims court to get your money (this can be done online so you don't even need to get out of the armchair and covers up to about £10k - I think, it used to be £5k)!!

Happy to share !! First year (last year) was £750.00 for their Prestige and Performance Extra Care. I've claimed for a new alternator and the front lower wishbone bushes and the renewal has come in at £675.00. My RRS is 2007 with 48k miles. Your dealer authourises the repair with WD, you pay the dealer and claim it back from WD who send a cheque within a week in my experience.

Ive just tried Warranty Wise for a quote and the similar cover was £1150.00 !!!!.

As others have said tho' in your case you ought to look to the dealer who sold it to you as the car came with the fault when you bought it.

Thanks all Thumbs Up

Ive written to the dealer via email initially and will call him later to follow up. I have spoken to my local main dealer workshop (who did the bushes and cambelt service on the Disco 3). They cant look at it until Tuesday, when the head guy said i can take the lead tech for a drive, show them the problem, put it up on the ramp with me there and diagnose. I will then get a written quote and tell the dealer I will book it in, expecting him to pay. Or should I just get it done, pay the guys and ask for the money back from the dealer??? Im sure the guys will be happy to say it has been failed for a time. Thoughts?

Re the indicator stalk issue. I just had it apart and cant stop the problem, even having had the switch out. So i think i will probably just buy another switch and bolt it in myself. Maybe I should bill that on to the dealer too?

Bradders....the quote from Warranty Wise was so high so as to pay for the owners big pool to be cleaned Rolling with laughter . Really though, in my personal opinion....They suck a***! Supercharged and proud.....!

As drdelrrs said I wouldn't even think about paying for the repairs, the dealer has an obligation to put right any faults in the car. I would get a full health check done by a good independant 4x4 garage and send the report or take it myself to the dealer and get them to either sort it or pay up.
I am sure wherever you are in the country someone on here can give the name of a good garage to do the check.
I see from your earlier post about modifiying how pleased you were, then for all this to go wrong I really feel for you and hope you get it sorted at their expense.
Good luck. Spud Smile

Guys..you're right Bow down

I have looked into it a bit and realise now that the rights for consumers have changed over the years...for the better....and in fact, I may have just been oblivious to my rights for a long time! Censored

As it is, I am going to call the dealer tomorrow and tell him of the problem and refer him also to my email. I will tell him that I will ask a local dealer to have a look see, although you have to be careful as they can be deemed to be making things seem worse so as to get business. Either way, i will say that i want it fixed, preferably by a specialist 4x4, Landy Indy or LR main as it is a specialist car and not a generic Honda Civic or similar. I will also insist on him doing the indicator stalk too.

Basically, from what I can see they are OBLIGED to supply the vehicle of a "satisfactory quality", which this clearly isnt. There is no arguments either. The test drive didnt reveal the fault, but then I am just a "layperson" and no expert (i wont detail my driving qualifications and history!!!!) and regardless, in typical trader fashion, there wasn't sufficient fuel to drive very far. Any faults found as long as 6 months AFTER purchase, are deemed to have been on the car when purchased and the dealer has to PROVE otherwise!!!

So thanks all.....I am going to make him sort it. I cannot be without the car for any length of time, its why we went out and saw only a couple and paid good money for a good example.

By the way, I am near Newbury in Berkshire/Oxfordshire border....so any indy specialists that are recommended....let me know. The guy I was using turned out to be....well' thats another story....!

GREAT FORUM! Supercharged and proud.....!
