Australia 2005 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 S Bonatti Grey
Jag or BMW

I have always believed the 4.4 V8 in my sport was from Jaguar and that BMW used the same engine in X5's, while BMW owned LR. But now every second person is telling me the opposite, that it's a BMW engine.

What is the truth of the heritage of the 4.4 V8? RRS '05 4.4 Bonatti Gray Black Leather

its a JAG engine - bmw engines were in the full fat range rover 2003-2005 models whilst the RRSport together with the Disco3 came out with the AJV8 Jag engines from 2005 onwards

England 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Orkney Grey

The 4.4 is a BMW engine. I had a 2001 540i with one before I got the RRS. The Jag engine is a 4.2. Supercharged for the RRS but I think it came NA for the XJ.

The FFRR started life with a BMW 4.4 V8 for the petrol option but it was changed to Jaguar 4.4 V8 or 4.2 Supercharged. The RRS started with the Jaguar engines, and has never been fitted with BMW engines.

BMW didn't use Jaguar engines either Thumbs Up Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

BMW never owned Jaguar, they owned Land Rover as part of Rover Group, but sold LR to Ford, and put LR in with Jaguar (who they already owned since the 1980s) in their Premier Automotive Group (PAG). Ford then sold Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!
