BMW have produced some fabulous engines over the years. Their 6 cylinder turbo diesels are very good. The V12 in the back of the McLaren F1 is possibly the greatest road car engine ever made.

They made some decent aero engines too - the 801 strapped in the front of the Focke Wulf 190 wasn't bad...

There is a lot not to like about BMW, but their engines aren't in that list. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

BMW dont produce anything fantastic or otherwise.
