lol,

That is a fantastic colour. These new reds dont fade as fast as the older models/colours. Just make sure you wash it correctly as wash marring/swirlling the paint will assist in making the paint dull. So good wash technique and a little patience will keep it in great shape. Maybe get a crystal lacquer and a hybrid coating to compeltely UV protect the paint and reduce the chances of marring the paint or swirlling for that matter.

Cheers

Mike Always clean.

Thanks Mike for your comments. I pick my car up in a couple of weeks......Just in time for winter !!!!!!

What recommendations for washing would you advise. I am a novice in this trade but do wash my car regularly and keep all in good condition. My main concerns are swirling and the alloy wheels pitting due to acidic products. I don't want to send it over to a detailer as I like doing the work myself. I have looked on a few car cleaning web sites and they have some interesting products that do a good job (well so they say) and are tempted to spend something like £200 with them. These will last for about 12 months I reckon.. Please don't tell me to wash on......wash off as I'm no Daniel..

I have heard that snow foam is good and then a proper bucket with a grid at the base to wash off the rest and then a quick detailed.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers Mike. It is what it is and I am what I am....

Hi bud

Well at the moment I have 3 sports coming in for a full winter long term protections. What I will be doing is the following (Along with the products in the right order) youmay
think this is a little mad, but this is what we do and the idea is to make sure its properly protected anad that winter does not break through the protection at all.

-All badges, shuts, grilles & gaps are degreased, cleaned and rinsed with surfex HD and a detailing brush.
-Lower half is degreased with dodo juice crudzilla and rinsed.
-Arches are degreased with surfex, scrubbed and rinsed.
-Entire vehicle is snow foamed with bilthammer auto foam on the snow foam lance, left to dwell for 10 minutes then rinsed off.
-The cars washed using the 2 bucket method and a ph neutral shampoo (either dodo juice supernatural, born to be mild, CG glossworkz, swissvax car bath, G-techniq G wash, whatever tickles my fancy that day) I use a dodo juice short haired wookie for the top half of the car and opti mitt for the lower half. The car is then rinsed.
-I then give the car a chemical bath with iron x and let it do its magic for 10 minutes. I then re wash the car to remove the iron x.
-I then take the car inside after a good rinse on the jet wash and dry with 70/30 towels such as chemical guys miricle towel or elite car cares xl super soft drying towel.
-I then dry all the shuts, gaps and badges with the warm air blower.
-I then clay the car with dodo juice gentle grey and megs last touch for clay lube.
-I then remove the clay sling and any silicones in the paint with a full ipa wipedown, which involves ipa and a microfibre.
-I then G-techniq P2 over the car on the rotary on a LC CCS red pad (Unless there having paint correction before protection which involves compounding, polishing and refining)
-Then I coat the paint in a single coat of g-techniq C1 crystal lacquer and left for 24 hours why I do the rest.
-The class would of also been clayed and then given an ipa wipedown and then a single coat of G-techniq G1 glass coating on all windows apart from the front. This has three coatings as it takes a bit more of a hammering then the side windows.
-Door shuts are polished and protected along with the door rubbers treated to keep them plump and reduce the issue of perishing.
-Inside glass cleaned with megs window cleaner.
-Wheels removed and arches are dressed with CG bare bones.
-Calipers cleaned ipa'ed and coated in C1 as well.
-Wheels cleaned off the car which invloves:

bilberry wheel cleaner
iron x
tardiS
surfex HD
IPA wipedown.

-Then each wheel is coated in G-Techniq C5 and put back on the car.
-Tyres dressed with swissvax pneu.
-Exhaust ploished with mothers metal polish.
-proteceted with blackfire metal sealant.
-Paint, glass and wheels is then given a coat of G-techniq EXO which is a hybrid coating.
-Then finally a little dust down with the dodo juice supernatural duster and its good to go.

As you can see good protections need a decent prep to ensure the durability and life span. With all of this expect upto 5 years protection for the paint, 12-14 months for the glass and about 10-12 months on the wheels. This durability times I have given are how long the will last solid before they start breaking down. So dont be suprised if it lasts longer if the car is washed with the right products after this protection.

So yes head for the g-techniq products, as you will love how well they really do work:)

Cheers Mike Always clean.
