MY13 Front End 'Clunk/thud' Noise on Driving Off....

My month old RRS developed a 'clunk/thud' noise on pulling away.

It feels front end, you can hear a feint thud & feel it come through the accelerator...

Any ideas would be great full as LR are due to call tomorrow to give me an update on the other problems I'm experiencing with it Rolling Eyes Owner of MY13 RRS Red Edition, Santorini Black, Ebony with Lunar, Privacy Glass & Exterior Design Pack

I'd say the best bet Cheney would be to get it back to the dealer sharpish and let them resolve all your issues in one hit. Shouldn't be of any inconvenience to you as they should give you a like for like (or better) RRS/FFRR.

What other problems are you having ? ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Thanks Chaps Wink

It's been in the dealer last week for them to look at this lot http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic28378.html

In addition it is pulling very slightly to the left.

They could not find any fault codes with regard to the screen.

They 'recalibrated' the tailgate Rolling Eyes

And they adjusted the tyre pressures for the pulling and told me to 'monitor' it over the weekend Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing

Since that visit it has developed this 'Thud' to be fair it is only on the initial 50 yards or so when driving off, it doesn't happen again during any journey??

They're supposed to be calling me back today to discuss the 'monitoring'! Laughing

To be honest i'm loving the car and i think these issues are more akin to 'Welcome to RRS Ownership' Laughing Laughing Owner of MY13 RRS Red Edition, Santorini Black, Ebony with Lunar, Privacy Glass & Exterior Design Pack

Ah, I see, seems you're taking it in good spirits. Laughing

Re the 'pulling' seems to be a far to regular occurrence on new RRS's Rolling Eyes , worth getting them to 4 wheel align the car, that should sort that one out Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Yes Confused

To be fair to the dealer they did say if there was no improvement they'd do a complete 4 wheel alignment Mr. Green

I was talking to my tyre guy recently. He reckons they've seen quite a few new RRS with poor wheel alignment straight out of the factory. He doesn't do alignments himself but sees the results in poor tyre wear. He sends people to get the alignment checked elsewhere and the usual result is that the geometry was just wrong. Having it setup properly results in correct tyre wear and, crucially for him, people who come back when they want new rubber later on.

Looks like LR are forgetting to do the simple QA things... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

^^^ Very similar discussion with the alignment place where I got mine done. A whole bunch of RRS's in the in the prior month to mine, all with less than 2,000 miles on the clock, all with varying degrees of alignment trouble.
As you say, seems like they're missing a step at the factory Sad ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I'm also told that the dealers won't do the alignment check and setup under warranty because they just claim "you must have hit a pothole". LR dealers aren't exactly cheap when it comes to alignment checks either... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Yes, I inquired with a local LR dealer, was told 'about 3 hours work and will be circa £300' Shocked Thud

Got it done at a reputable wheel alignment place with state of the art equipment for just shy of £60.
They even told me that that although the FNS wheel had kerbing (Mrs Bean Evil or Very Mad ) it had nothing to do with the cars alignment problem (RNS wheel was toe out) and that the dealer would have blamed that for the cause. Rolling Eyes

Shame LR or thei dealers aren't taking responsibility for it tbh Neutral ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I got mine done by my dealer, they didn't quibble either, but that was when they were trying to straighten my steering wheel to put it inline with my wheels Whistle

Tyre guy told me that a customer eventually got ProAlign (who make the 4-wheel alignment kit) to look at his Sport at their training facility. His local LR guys had checked it and said it was spot on. ProAlign looked at it and it was quite a bit out. They adjusted the suspension and the owner has been happy ever since. Makes you wonder why dealers bother really Rolling Eyes 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I was told that mine definitely left the factory with the symptoms as the adjustment needed could not have been caused by potholes/kerbs etc.
They used Hunter Hawke equipment, fantastic to see it in action. Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
