2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Advised to put 40 psi in my tyres

Hi

I've just had to replace my two front Continental 275/40/20 tyres as the shoulders on both edges and on both front tyres were badly worn (4-5 mm elsewhere). After replacements where fitted the fitter advised I put 40 psi in the tyres to compensate for this known issue which results from the active suspense.

Has anyone had similar experiences? TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

I thought the Contis were designed to wear the shoulders first.

If you check a new Conti there is minimal tread on the blocks around the edges from new. Doesn't look good but according to Conti doesn't affect handling etc.

They aren't called Crapinentals for nothing ! FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

I had the worn edge conti problem and reported it @ 8k miles but was told it was normal - same again on second and third service though I noticed it did not appear to get any worse Rolling Eyes

Info here http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/us...tern~0.pdf

The dealer swapped the wheels round on the services and told me not to worry Confused

I recently changed them for a Pirelli zero set from Overfinch and wished I had done it sooner - the ride is way better and I now have M+S tyres so no need to swap in winter anymore Cool

I would be wary of increasing tyre pressure above specified in case accident investigation, etc used it as a contributing factor Embarassed Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

A bit confusing re the Contis then hey.

What are the MS tyres as keen to look at a tyre that does well in both summer and winter? TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

I had a 2012 loaner on Pirelli Scorpions M+S (Mud + Snow) during my recent saga and first thing I noticed was the ride improvement Shocked

Mine is like a new car with the Pirelli tyres - http://www.pirelli.com/tyre/gb/en/suv/shee...trico.html

Not tested them on snow and ice yet but been excellent in wet and dry and my last 7 LR's had M+S tyres and were excellent in poor weather Thumbs Up

One of my biggest complaints since I got my RRS was the firm ride and factory fitting summer tyres on a 4x4 Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

My car just come back from service and I was advised the wear on the tyres indicates under inflation despite me putting the recommended amount

Look here: http://www.winter-tyres.info/faq.html

M+S tyres are all round all weather tyres, but technically not a snow tyres. They will be different from standard tyres in that the tread will be more able to deal with adverse weather.

A "real" snow tyre will have also specifically designed rubber compound that will remain soft and grippy in low temperature conditions (most quote below 7DegC), rather than turn solid when cold as a non-snow tyre would.

Jordan at overfinch did me a delivery miles set for £1000 including new alloys Thumbs Up

Price guide here for tyres only but you may need to add fitting - http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=safa...mp;bih=611

I considered winter tyres but decided I did not want the hassle of changing/storage and I have never had an issue with M+S tyres over 12 years so cost was not worth it Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

How 'new' awd Question
Mine are showing slight signs of feathering at 7,000 miles, but mid tread is 6-7mm still.
Will mention it when in for a service at the end of the month, but can't see it being an issue or anything done about it tbh. Neutral ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Not 100% sure Bean, but the Contri's on my new alloys are different to the Contri's that wear on the shoulder, and according to DCC4x4 they're the new design RRS gone
