Tail gate gas strut needs to be replaced

As mentioned above, tail gate strut gave in, resulting in the gf, as well as myself Embarassed not being able to open the very heavy gate.
Therefore i ordered a new set, which will be at the dealers during this week.
Planning to do this repair myself.

Anybody changed these struts their selfs?
Any advise, tips?

Perhaps is Bobby around with any LR blue prints? Wink

Just went and looked at mine. Looks pretty straight forward. Maybe use a piece of wood to support the lid while you use a very flat wrench to loosen 2 thin nuts on each one. I don't think you need to get behind the actual lid panel. Looks like they just screw in. Mike mike murphy

Mike is right.
Nothing special here, just support the tailgate and change the struts, quite straightforward actually. Wink Malaysia Boleh!

Thanks for the response gents.

Fortunately, the dealer offered to do it for me.
To bad it ripped almost the mechanics left arm of when the door fell like a guillotine.... Shocked
The arm was fortunately pushed outside off the car!

Nevertheless, it was badly bruised.

So be careful if somebody thinks about doing the repair there selfs!. SW
