For me a warranty is essential, these are expensive cars which can be expensive to repair. My warranty is due for renewal in November and I'll be renewing. End of the day it's up to you and wether your willing to risk not having one, not having one the car might bite you!

The LR select warranty which I believe your car qualifies (approved warranty under 5 years old only) costs £745 or £895 including assist so where do you get the £1000 figure from or are you being charged for an inspection prior to obtaining a warranty?

If you take it to a dealer then i don't think you will get much change from £900, If you take it to an independent garage garage then you are probably looking at around £6-700 mark including the service. you might get it cheaper if you shop around. |

Spot on Ady, pentland quoted me £1000 mark including "body off"... The independent I use quoted £500 without removing the body for the belts? Then obviously the cost of the rest of the service.

The tricky bit is finding a decent indie garage. I use one for the Skoda (and they did my Golf before that) as they specialise in VAG and are only 5 miles away. Not sure about letting them loose on the Sport though - I might ask them if they feel up to it.

The so called "expensive" service is somewhat of a myth. Two independent land rover specialists I know do it for approx £300,the belt that the body is taken off for(but only for ease)it can be done without is only an ancillary belt and even if it should happen to snap will cause no damage.Combined they have over 40 years experience and say they have never known one go yet.

I'm lucky mike Aitken is only half an hour away, been a land rover only specialist for over 30 years and has a younger guy as his right hand man, who as well as being a land rover mechanic specialises in the electronic side of the newer models! That's where your money could get swallowed up trying to trace problems in my opinion?
