United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

The issue is when the disc is replaced I think. If you've only changed the pads then you haven't altered anything in the EPB system.

The problem with the EPB occurs because it uses the inside of the rear disc hub as a drum brake. Change the disc and you need to wind the EPB mechanism back in to compensate for the extra material on the inside of the drum portion of the rear disc. I think. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The point of adjusting them, is that they wear down during use, so it's a simple process to adjust them whilst you have the wheels off, takes just a couple of minutes to check & adjust.
You are right in terms of the fact that you haven't changed the disk, but in order to keep the EPB working at optimum performance its best to adjust it before the cables overstretch themselves and you then cost yourself £500 ish to get the actuator changed.

In my mind, its a simple couple of minutes job that keeps everything working at optimum performance.

Of course I'm biased because I wrote the bible, but in 5-1/2 years of D3 ownership since new, I had ONE epb screamer and ever since, have kept it adjusted regularly and never had an over hot disk or binding or any other screamer or EPB issue.

Simple additional job, so why not do it........? Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

one question...

why the hell they wear if they only are applied when the car is at FULL STOP????

seem stupid to me that the brake pads wears if there are no friction as there are no movement!!

i think that all the problem is the release springs that eventually get weak and left the pads touching the drum and causing all the problems they do.

they wear because sometimes youre not always at a complete stop, or because you use drive away parke realease or just when youve stopped, applied and then its on a hill, so wears it out a little at a time. It is well over 2 tonnes....... Bodsys Brake Bible

the compound of the drum is sooooooo soft then,

i wonder why the pads at trucks last for +120.000 miles and with hard braking (they are service brakes, no park brakes...) with much more than 2 moving tons...

we mount butter drums maybe? or badly unajusted or unretracted completely ones wears as they keep touching lighty the interior of the drum along the miles?

i tend to the second one as i have the pads in my hand when my EPB get changed (electronic fail, not mechanics or adjust issue nor screamer) and they are "usual" pads.

your "bible" is so good Bodsy, i keep a copy on my PC for the day i need it.
