Hey Mrfrog, I have had the same problem with the access hieght being denied and the system adviseing to remove obstruction from underside, was the compressor exhaust valve not serviceable or did you decide to fit a new unit regardless, any advise is appreciated.

It started really playing up + air suspension fault warnings on the Wednesday prior to a week end away during which we'd be covering a few hundred miles. Had to be fixed friday lunchtime, so I bit the bullet and ordered a compressor on thu morning, got it in the afternoon and was ready on friday for the trip.

I might have investigated more had I had the time, but in this case, I had to take the shortest time to fix.

From what I saw on microcat, there was no serviceable part that I could see.

Short term fix for dryer/compressor/suspension problem!!!!

Guys,
Had the opportunity to open the dryer that was removed from my car. Found that there was a filter either end with drying beads filling the space between them.
Now on my dryer the filters were clogged...causing the fault. It is entirely possible to clean the filters and replace the unit without the need to buy a new one. The drying beads looked intact apart from the 5% that had disintegrated and clogged the filters.

How long this fix will last is anybody's guess...Iam just putting it out there in case someone wants to save money on buying a new dryer...why buy a replacement if the original just needs cleaning out?

Just a thought!!!!

Sorry mrfixit....did not have the presence of mind to take any pics at the time. Luckily, I still have the dryer and so will try and put up a couple of pics in the next day or two.

I won't steal slick17's thunder with pictures, however I took my drier apart today out of curiosity, below are my findings:

-Had to drill out the screw (Phillips) that holds the drier to the compressor's body.
-Remaining pipe on drier wouldn't come off, had to cut it.
-The drier twists on the compressor's input and should pull off gracefully. Mine didn't, had to persuade it off and an o-ring suffered as a result. Pretty sure it would go back on though.
-Three of the six drier screws were too rusty to come off (torx), had to use pliers on them.

Finally opened the drier and after removing the spring and some dust, the rest wouldn't come out nicely. So I used a little more prodding and pulling on the internals, luckily over a bin... and the drier emptied itself, much dust and beads.

Based on this experience, I wouldn't attempt to service one unless it looks relatively new on the outside, mine came off my 05 RRS, so 7 years old unless replaced since. A new o-ring would likely to be needed too.

Mrfixit,

No problem....we are all here to help each other. I probably know the least about cars as compared to some of the other members....based on the information I have seen on this and other forums.

Although i asked for help on this particular topic and had pretty quick response to it...I felt I should at least try and do a little research myself....and hey presto...the information is all out there...god bless the internet Very Happy

Sounds like your dryer was on its last legs! Mine was pretty easy to open and actually looked fairly new. Once opened the filters were clogged but 90% odd of the beads were intact...mine is an 06.....maybe it has been replaced before!!!

Appreciate your input... Thumbs Up

cheers S/C 06 Black

control valve overlay harness

I have problem with the suspension system, switch to a new compressor. And now their is still problems to high and low the car. I had some discussions with the local LR repairman. I need to install a new front suspension control valve overlay harness-Range Rover Sport (Causal part YNN500472). Where can I buy that part to best price?
