Cracked Alloy - Need help identifying wheel

My 05 S/C has a cracked alloy wheel (two places on the inside of the rim) Big Cry

I believe they're 20" stormer alloys but all the ones I can see on eBay are silver/grey, do you know what the black ones are known as in the picture below ? Anthracite ?

Anyone had any luck claiming replacements from Land Rover, I appreciate the car is 7 years old, but my local tyre fitter reckoned I should ask LR to replace it.

Yup, that's what I am starting to realise... must be why I like them so much !!! Currently investigating having it repaired, any experience on that front ?

yeah with older alloys tho, 9/10 times they cracked again. If its a Y shaped crack they cant be repaired, if its simply a straight crack im lead to belive they can be welded up, not sure id trust it on a car with the weight of a RRS.

When you factor in the cost of a 20" tyre its really not worth trying to do it on the cheap, the cost of one ruined tyre trumps the cost of a replacement alloy from ebay. Suppose you need to factor in painting it but any local garage should do it for pretty cheap. Thumbs Up

I think I'd be checking the wheels to see if they are genuine LR Stormers or some cheap copies from Ebay made in China!
If they're copies I'd be looking to replace all 4 wheels with something trustworthy if my life depended on it. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Not just cheap wheels that crack , LR wheels do as well. Ive got a 1 year old genuine AB wheel thats cracked Rolling Eyes. I do see your point as there are a lot of stormer replicas around

Well, I have to say I couldn't be bothered to try Land Rover for a replacement seeing that my spare limits me to 50mph and had enough of that after one day Laughing added to that, the likelyhood of getting any kind of settlement fm LR quickly was unlikely, I could see LR suggesting I went to the council and vice versa !

I've had the wheel welded up by a company that's fully insurance backed and has had their work vetted by BMW to show the repair to be stronger than the original. £135 for two welds.

Anyway, this is a short term fix still, but with a purpose... I'll find a single spare 20" stormer, have it painted to match mine and the repaired one will become a full size spare so no more 50mph limit after a puncture Wink

Now I need to get hold of the previous and only owner to find out who painted these wheels and in which color...

Interesting, the welding company said they were repairing cracked wheels day in day out... must be a pretty common occurrence.

regardless of certificates or accreditation I would never trust a welded alloy wheel, just not worth it. A blow out at speed is insanely scary. ============
