I am very happy with my second new RRS, after all it's only a piece of metal on wheels!!
If you find it boring don't feckin read it, others are interested as it could happen to any of us.

Ok , fair point,
Don't appreciate the language though!

That's because you buy from the dealer, not the maufacturer. If you buy a pair of shoes and they're faulty, you take them back to the shop whence they came not the factory they were made in. If you buy some food from a supermarket and it's rancid when you get it home then you take it back to the supermarket, not the producer.

You don't have a contract with JLR, you have it with the supplying dealer. It's the dealer who has to chase JLR and if you get a poor dealer then you're, um, screwed.

I copied JLR in, as the fault with my particular vehicle had arrisen during manufacture. Having also been invited to the factory and been told with great gusto that the paint quality checking process was second to none, I (wrongly) assumed that aftter buying two brand new XF's, JLR may have been slightly interested in how my car came from the factory with one door looking like a child had painted it with a potato.

The solicitors letters were directed at Warrington Garages Ltd (Hatfields).

I also (wrongly again) assumed that JLR would actually care about the impression that their supplying dealers were giving to customers. The impression that both JLR and Hatfield gave to me was/is that their marketing guff about caring about quality and providing a product that other marques can ony aspire to, is the greatest work of fiction known to man.

Didnt stop me buying a second hand RRS though from a much more professional dealer, but Ill never buy new from JLR again and give them an excuse to build another car. All thanks to Hatfields. RRS 3.0D HSE 11MY - Fuji White, a few extras.

Well lets all hope that your RRS never develops any faults or is dropped off a hydraulic lift whilst being serviced by a Land Rover dealership!

If you find the thread boring then don't read it.......... Whistle

Just test drove a D4 XS as possible replacement for the Wag Rover Sport and I liked it Embarassed

I found steering a bit heavier and ride a bit bouncy/rough compared to the Vogue/Sport but not a deal breaker Confused

SWMBO didn't like it though so probably looking at 2011 Vogue SE next Rolling Eyes

I think part of problem is going down spec from HSE through no fault of our own is clouding our judgement Embarassed

After 7 weeks of this I don't really know if I am coming or going and being unable to get away with van at weekends to recharge hasn't helped either Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Well LRCS are passing the buck to the dealer and not interested Sad

The dealer has offered a Westminster replacement for £800 more than I can buy one from broadspeed that they say they will make nothing on - so broadspeed must be subsidising them Whistle

Looks like best option is to get the RRS fixed and sell it Embarassed

Perhaps you should ask the dealer to give you retail price for your part excahnge- less say £500 so they really are making nothing out of the deal.

Ask if they are including any registration bonus they get in the not making anything on the deal, sadly if they gave you a copy of the invoice from LR for the car that showed cost then that again does not mean they are not getting various bonuses.

Obviously assuming you ever want to own another LR product !!

If yes then go back to Nickey at LR CS & see if LR will give a goodwill gesture off a new vehicle.

Worth contacting Lookers PR to see what deal they can do - they may get a gesture out of LRCS given your poor experience of the brand & your desire to give them another chance Surprised

It aint over till its over Whistle Paul

After following this thread and now the apparent lack of action by LRCS I am now questioning whether I should consider purchasing a MY12 RRS. I recently had a test drive in a MY12 RRS and was very impressed, so different to a MY09 I drove a few years back. Forums tend to always be the bearer of bad news very few posts about good news. In fairness to MW he has been very open and honest and even posted a positive comment about the Loaner MY12.

I am not saying that if I purchase a MY12 RRS I will have problems, however it would be nice to know that backup / support is available in the event of a problem. After reading MW’s hassles it gave me some confidence when Nicky from LRCS appeared on the scene, great I thought LR are stepping up to the mark and want to protect customers and reputation, after MW’s post today clearly that now does not seem to be the case with LR.

Totally disillusioned with LR, love the RRS shame about the support. Appreciate MW’s problems started as a dealer issue however LCRS seem to forget the dealers are representatives of LR’s name / reputation and should ensure customer service is at the highest level. This in my opinion is the key for repeat / future business.

Good Luck MW hope you get it sorted.

With Land Rover occupying bottom place in reliability tables working in Customer Services must be a thankless task.

They'd do well to remember that often small gestures can go a long way in satisfying customers who, if you judge by this site's members, care a huge amount for the Sport.

There is a vast amount of info. here LR could use in a positive way and they could make friends and champions for their products instead of enemies.

I always thought the rule in business was that it is cheaper and a better investment to keep customers than get new ones. (not saying new business should be under invested).

7500 views of this thread showing how Land Rover simply ignor customers who have problems.

Lets hope that just 10% decide not to buy a new RRS based on MW's experience with the dealership and Land Rover Head Office.

That would cost Land Rover a whooping 40 Million quid in lost sales! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

It makes no sense does it?
