Tell's you that statistics etc mean nothing

The disco isnt the same - depreciates faster, doesnt look as nice, feels cheaper, acts cheap is cheaper and by the time you add the same standard range rover toys you have a bloated discovery not a nice place to be...this comes from a person who has owned 4 discovery's Mike

Just wait until you trade it in at year 1...then you will see the depreciation.

I think there was even a thread on here - you will get more out of you sport and a disco

Anyway - your not even comparing apples with apples - there isnt a HSE disco against a HSE sport - even the SE isnt really comparable to the XS Mike

You are correct no D4 HSE - HSE sport only there because I have one and wanted to compare it though at present I can not afford either HSE now thanks to my dealers added service benefit Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I am not comparing specs - just depreciation/cost Rolling Eyes

I have enjoyed the luxury of a RRS HSE but would really like a TDV8 Vogue Sad

However back to reality - Disco is cheaper and holds value better according to what car and unless dealer/Lr do the right thing I have been set back 4 years financially and must lower my expectations Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Yes, I'm aware of that Smile , my comment was in the general sense. I struggle to see that someone spending this sort of money on 'any' car is worried about depreciation. If you were, you'd not be looking to spend upwards of £40k on any car Wink

I don't think you know what you want Muddy!, RRS, Disco, Vogue.....other brand Question Whistle Laughing
If it was me, I'd get a resolution to my RRS first, then see what's on the table re trading up (Vogue), sideways (RRS) or down (Disco Whistle ).
Then if none of those are feasible, I'd look outside the brand Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I know what I want - tdv8 vogue Thumbs Up

Depreciation concerns me more on a £40k car than a £15k Big Cry

Since 911 I Made a choice to only buy cars that are built in britain, meet my needs, look good imho and fit my budget - that's just me I am afraid Embarassed

My choices therefore -

Defender - cheap, looks cool but not refined enough for everyday use Whistle
FL2 - great value 4x4 but won't pull van and looks a bit cheap/dated inside now Embarassed
Disco - did not gel with me as d3 but has grown on me since d4, cheaper than rrs and will pull van Thumbs Up
RRS - was my dream car but having had a bad experience not sure I want another and cost to change now a problem Evil or Very Mad
FFRR - engine blows you away but design dated and cost/depreciation again a big issue now Crying or Very sad
Honda crv - reliable, good value but looks awful and won't pull van Thud

Hence the graph I posted to compare Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

why not buy cars built outside of the UK, that use multiple UK sourced components? That way you support more jobs than just the handful at one car building factory

Whistle ============

2007 TDV8 HSE - superb car and very reliable

sure, if you can give me the list of # of employees at each of the UK car factories, I'll start looking for the # of employees at each of the UK manufacturing companies that export car components Rolling with laughter ============
