60K Service Cost

So just had a 60K and whilst shopping around for prices I could not believe the spread, Land Rover dealers went from £600 at the most expensive down to £420 as the cheapest with an independent coming in at £250, went for the £420 as it was on the doorstep and could collect. following service they report needing new front disks and pads, rear pads uneven wear and suspected rear passenger side caliper stuck, have all the parts in my garage but they want £180 to do the work Shocked

The sceptic in me says this is why they were £420. Have you verified the work does indeed need doing? ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

At LR main dealer rates I reckon that's about 2 hours labour. Evil or Very Mad

My local back street garage fitted new pads all round on my FL2 a couple of years ago for £50 in notes and I doubt popping on discs as well should cost much more than that. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy
Ex 2006 RRS SC - garbage
Ex 2016 135i M Sport - dream car
Ex 2003 RS6 Avant - piece of cr*p
Ex 2014 320d X Drive, M Sport Touring - ok I guess
Ex 2007 RRS TDV8 - bloody loved it
EX 2007 FL2 XS - not so bad

Both local indy and LR quoted 4 hours work and both priced the same Shocked Oh and if needed does anybody know where i can get a new caliper that will not cost the earth?

if they are the ones im thinking of,on your door step, I would double check the work needed doing, as my brakes wore down very quickly on my old car according to them and i just got them to do it. But then heard of others falling for the trap of over zealous measurements on there brakes and later seeing the parts and there been loads of life left in them

NPinks, not the dealer you are thinking of, i would not send my daughters bike there. Shocked

The disks are due change after 60K and it had a second pair of Brembo pads at 30K so all is about right and i should change the pads at the same time as new disks, the issue on the back is i believe a seized caliper as drivers side rear pad is at 5mm and N/S is at 2mm so excessive wear on this one alone.

hello leedsunited
to unseize the rear calipers is a very easy job, it is the floating knuckle that seizes not the piston, It shouldnt even require the whole caliper removing, just as clean and a regrease, and maybe ,(if damaged) a new pair of rubber gaiters.

Shepp, many thanks for the info, hopefully when the dealer puts the new pads in he will give it a clean.
