Does suspension knock just disappear?

I'm new to the RRS having had it for only a week or so. Until this weekend I had only driven it short distances and noted a knock from somewhere underneath when driving over poorly maintained road surfaces (which in Hertfordshire is pretty much everywhere). The knocking is best described as sounding like an exhaust pipe hitting the floor although I am fairly sure that is not the cause. The knock was present when I bought the car and the dealer agreed to a considerably lower price being accepted if I took the car as it was. Now comes the odd part; taking the car for a longer spin yesterday, which include a few miles of motorway but mostly A roads resulted in almost a complete disappearance of the knocking which is nice but puzzling. Is it possible that because the car has been standing idle for a while giving it a good run has somehow got the suspension working more smoothly? I had imagined I was going to be asking an LR dealer to change the stabiliser bar and/or bushes/fit the mass absorber kit thingy. Anyone else had self-curing suspension knocks?

The only other unrelated little problem the car seems to have by the way is an annoying buzz/rattle from the drivers door area that could be the driver's door mirror which does seem a bit loose. Alternatively it could be something loose inside the door Anyone had this problem?

Thanks for the replies. That's two votes for the arb bushes. I'll probably need to have stealership make an inspection and diagnosis so if anyone can recommend a good one in Hertfordshire....

Nearest one to me is Chipperfield. I've had a look underneath and without raising the car on jacks found the bushes hard to see because of all the other components in the way. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Well the good news is that all is now fixed and car drives beautifully with no knocking noises. Had the diagnosis and work carried out by Chipperfield Land Rover. The workshop had a quick look and recommended fitting new front anti roll bar bushes and clamps; removing the front body dampers and fitting the mass absorber kit (as per LTBs 00241 and 00204).
However when they removed the undershield this revealed a slight leak from the front ARC bar and also an unrelated oil leak from the nearside drive shaft seal. The front ARC bar is £873 and fitting is quite a big job so the total bill with VAT was a fairly hefty £2,200. But on the upside the problem is fixed and the driveshaft oilseal leak if left could have resulted in a bigger bill if all the oil leaked out resulting in a ruined diff. Note that the workshop also fitted an updated breather cap to the diff which apparently replaces the old one that doesn't work very well and contributes to the oil seal failure.
I am wondering if the slight oil leak from the ARC bar explains why the knocking seemed worse at the beginning of a journey - maybe after a few miles the system regained pressure and worked a little better.
Difficult to judge Chipperfield on the basis of one experience but the staff were helpful and a loan car was provided with minimum fuss at short notice. Loaner was newish base model Freelander 2 nice and clean and blessed with air con Much better than most loan cars but still made me pleased I have a RRS and not a Freelander - just no comparison! 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
