Touch Screen Not Changing Theme On Auto Setting

My touch screen and Sat Nav are both set to 'Auto' which I am told means that at night it will change automatically from the day theme to the night theme. However, this does not happen, it just stays on the day theme. My dealer has, as usual been useless and unhelpful. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

On my car, it was a faulty screen. However it can also be a bad wiring connection to the screen, or on older models, a sensor that is found on the dashboard between two switches to the left of the clock. I hope that helps!

Interesting it's a sensor, I thought it was based on when the lights were on/off.
I.E, night + when the lights are on, day = when the lights are off Confused ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

My 2012 RRS has the same issue. Local dealer has tried the following on the advice of LR tech: software upgrade; auto light sensor replacement; screen replacement and lastly this week the whole sat nav unit replacement... But does not make any difference.. Dealer has told LR that all if the model year cars they have tried do not change theme so is there a wider issue. LR say they should change, so keep trying fixes..

Car has been off road in dealership for two and half weeks overall and still no closer to a fix to a minor niggle.. Got the car back yesterday. Does not give a strong sense of comfort when LR tech do not know how to fix minor issues..

Credit to the dealership though as they have been very supportive throughout.

No solution

LR have come back to say that this facility is not available on my model year. The option for auto is misleading and has not effext.

Which MY is yours Terryrrs? I ask as my 12 plate was deemed too young for it to happen.

My sat nav changes colour scheme based on conditions. Enter a tunnel during daytime and it changes to night colours, exit the tunnel and back to day colours. No link to headlamps probably because in some countries you are required to have headlights on even during daytime. It only does that in sat nav mode though. The auto theme doesn't seem to have any effect on button colours in other screen modes e.g. audio/video etc. so I have set them to the dark setting because I prefer that over the light one and both light and dark are easily visible day & night anyway. It is a MY13 same as Fkarim. At the moment I have my lights set on auto. I will switch lights to manual and see if that makes any difference. These RRS have some strange quirky things and have obviously been designed and built on Venus not on Mars.

Mine is fixed no matter what setting I choose. I have chosen night as less distracting at this time of year with the shorter days and general gloom..

Seems my car was on the cusp of a model year change as nothing has enabled the display change.

My lights are always on manual and satnav screen still changes colours automatically whether the lights are on or off Thumbs Up Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
