The discussion I dread is the one which explains that (in general) the better watches have automatic movements which are expensive and the more accurate the movement (in general) the more expensive the watch and (in general) you never see the movement and none of them are as accurate as a quartz watch, all stop if you don't wear them for a few days and that after a month or so of being stopped the incredibly expensive ones need to be sent back to the manufacturer to get them going again ......

(usually she zones out by the second "in general" probably like anyone reading this reply). Graham

Had similar discussions with Mrs Bean, something along the lines of "so, you spend all that money on a nice watch and it stops working if you don't wear it or put it in a watch winder, and its not actually that accurate" - "Yes"

I put an end to the recurring debate by buying her a limited edition Cartier earlier this year, not heard a peep about expensive watches since Laughing Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

My missus has no room for argument - her Cartier Tank has been in the safe since I bought her a Chanel J12. She has nicer watches than me! Thankfully, the Cartier is quartz......

Scotland 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Santorini Black

After losing about 3 cheap watches when we were courting 20 odd years ago, i bought my missus a Tag Heuer (before they went all cheap!) thinking it might stay on her wrist a bit longer - it did and has been her daily wear ever since.
a couple of years ago for her 40th , i bought her a mother of pearl Omega Speedmaster, but she never wears it, as it is "too fancy"! Fact, women just dont GET watches!!

cheers

@ Phil, I opted for the quartz Tank Solo too, as I knew she'd complain that it was always telling the wrong time I went down the automatic route Laughing

@ Dave - I think that sums it up, they just don't 'get' watches Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
