Do I need a tracker ?

Hi all,

The insurance company I'm with at the moment say that when I get my sport they won't cover it unless it has a tracker !
Is that he norm ? And if so can anyone recommend one.

Cheers S, grey, all black int, s,steps, window tints, fridge, ff tv x 3.

My insurance company has insisted on one for both my RRS. I think you can still find insurance companies that do not require one.

If it helps convince you, a trackerless BMW was stolen from a drive a few houses down from me last Sunday night, broke in and took the keys.

For this second RRS I have gone for Tracker Locate as it includes VHF operation which the ebay plugin blockers do not cover at the moment http://www.estationb2c.com/index.php?main_...hwodnm1X0w

I did enquire about the Cat 5 Plus version but the fitter advised against it as it was "more trouble than its worth", he has one fitted and doesn't like it. 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit

Not all ins companies insist on a tracker for the RRS so it might be worth shopping around especially if you are coming up for renewal.

Bearing in mind a tracker will cost upwards of £350 plus £135/year subscription it might even pay to ditch your current insurer and change.

I had a Smartrac Protector Pro fitted by a previous Forum Sponsor, but TBH Im not so sure I'd want it back if some low life ragged it around Yorkshire. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

As said, there are insurance companies out there who don't insist on a tracker or equivalent device. My insurance (Direct Line) is anything over £50k.

I found the numbers to be fairly 'on par' with each other over a 4 year period, as the additional cost of insurance without a tracker for me, roughly equaled the pay out now for a traker and subscription over the 4 years.

Like Bradders, I'm not sure I'd want it back................unless they totaled it and set fire to it, at which point my GAP insurance would kick in and I'd get a shiny new one back on the drive Razz ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

GAP insurance pays out the difference between what the car is worth and what it was new if its written off so you basically get all your money back ! S, grey, all black int, s,steps, window tints, fridge, ff tv x 3.

Admiral insurance is another one that doesn't require a tracker, i thought about having one fitted when i got my new sport but decided to go for gap insurance instead, like Bradders and Beano, i wouldn't want it back Whistle Thats where my gap insurance would also kick in. Thumbs Up Just do a google search on tracker blockers and you will see how many blockers there are and how cheap they are.
