Think the idea is to make you think before you do it again, or smash into someone else's car or worse a person.

Sorry I'm with Rudskibaliblu on this one - had a couple of close calls with phone users veering over lines, etc through not concentrating - luckily as an ex-biker I am pretty alert and see things before they happen/react quickly - if SWMBO was driving could have been a lot worse |

If you know you shouldn't be doing it, and the reasons why you shouldn't be, then why do you think a warning and educating the driver of something you already know is a good idea? Maybe I'm missing something here? The standard procedure is the advertising both on tv and radio letting you know what's going to happen if you get caught - namely points and a fine, which you deserve if you haven't learnt by now. I'll bet you will receive a good eductation after this! My pet hate is people who use the phone whilst driving, if hands free/bluetoothis broken, wait till you have stopped, the call can't be more important than someone's life should you mow them down whilst engaged in 'chit chat'.

You'll get no sympathy from me for this, that's for sure. Plenty of research suggests that using a hand held mobile is at least as bad as driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs. Perhaps you would also suggest that DUI should be dealt with by a gentle chat too?

If it was up to me I'd confiscate the phone for a month, £250 fine and a big hit on insurance premiums, maybe then people might take this rule of the road seriously.
