Think the idea is to make you think before you do it again, or smash into someone else's car or worse a person.

Speaking from having a car written of by a turd who then threw his phone out the window to escape prosecution, somebody picked the phone up that was his game up. Now gone Orkney grey SDV6 HSE with body style kit contrast stitch ebony leather, privacy, black piano, 22" Lowenharts for summer, 20" with Leon LTZ for winter.

Sorry I'm with Rudskibaliblu on this one - had a couple of close calls with phone users veering over lines, etc through not concentrating - luckily as an ex-biker I am pretty alert and see things before they happen/react quickly - if SWMBO was driving could have been a lot worse Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Insurance take this offence seriously aswell, expect a nice increase in premium too

Heard of people been refused cover for his wife as she was caught too

To be honest, I use hands free, but occasionally glance at it to see why the bleep was, text or email, I don't read it though, if it's important I'll pull over

If you know you shouldn't be doing it, and the reasons why you shouldn't be, then why do you think a warning and educating the driver of something you already know is a good idea?

Maybe I'm missing something here?

The standard procedure is the advertising both on tv and radio letting you know what's going to happen if you get caught - namely points and a fine, which you deserve if you haven't learnt by now.

I'll bet you will receive a good eductation after this! MY10 HSE 3.0 TDV6 : Santorini Black : Ebony Interior w/Anigre wood : Privacy Glass (total) : Sunroof : Sidesteps : Hybrid TV : Detachable Tow Kit : Spare Wheel Cover : 22" Dished Supersports

My pet hate is people who use the phone whilst driving, if hands free/bluetoothis broken, wait till you have stopped, the call can't be more important than someone's life should you mow them down whilst engaged in 'chit chat'.

On a related matter, I can't believe how many people jump into their cars first thing in the morning (can tell this by the condensation coming from their exhaust) and the first thing they do is light up a Fag! Twisted Evil What's that all about? Why not have one before you drive, got to be as dangerouse as using the phone or eating food, both of which will get you nicked!
But I guess the government make more in tax and would loose more votes if smoking whilst driving was also banned Shocked

Sorry for the soap box rant but life's too short as it is without some daft bumpy taking you out Rolling Eyes

You'll get no sympathy from me for this, that's for sure. Plenty of research suggests that using a hand held mobile is at least as bad as driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs. Perhaps you would also suggest that DUI should be dealt with by a gentle chat too?

Even if you weren't driving a vehicle fitted with Bluetooth, hands free kits are "cheap as chips" these days; there really is no excuse for using a mobile phone other than hands free.

Seeing people driving with a phone clamped to their ear is one of the things that gets my blood up - it's just so selfish and there is absolutely no excuse for it. None at all. Never.

If it was up to me, I'd have impounded your car and shoved the phone up your Censored

Oh, your post reads like it was written by a regular on Jeremy Kyle... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

If it was up to me I'd confiscate the phone for a month, £250 fine and a big hit on insurance premiums, maybe then people might take this rule of the road seriously.

I'd wager 99.9% of calls are non urgent anyway, probably along the lines of "what would you like for dinner tonight" Banging Head
