I used to have a 7 litre 427 Cobra and I've not heard anything that really compares to that. It would bring you out in a sweat just listening to it Twisted Evil
It was roadtested by Performance Car and was awarded the accolade of "Britain's Scariest Sportscar" Very Happy
The original GT40 also sounds fantastic.

For shear character, you can't beat a V8 for sound.....IMO

Paul

Fair comment TB!

There are some cars not on here which will sound incredible such as the monster 7L Cobra (Paul B) or the BRM V16.

Has anyone ever seen the car created back in the 70's with a Spitfire engine under the massively elongated bonnet?

I bet that sounded ridiculously loud! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I remember seeing it on Blue Peter Embarassed If I recall correctly, Rolls Royce made the owner remove the RR grill from the front of it. I later saw a feature on it in a magazine.

That was a monster Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

That's the fella Paul!

An absolute monster - looked a bit like a cross of an extended Reliant Scimitar body and a Rolls Royce front end.

I always liked the raspy M3 six... but as others have said you can't beat a V8 rumble, the Cayenne S & Turbo sounds great as does the RS6. But a lot of that is down to exhaust config.... hmmm. TVRs always sound like they're out to conquer the world. The BMW V10 sounds great at higher revs but sounds a bit uneven around town....

Wales 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Java Black

Nice one Jay! Cool
Out of all the cars I've ever owned, two stand out for noise. Both Pontiac Firebirds, both 1971's. One a 350cu in (5.7 litre) with headers and cherry bomb exhausts 320 bhp and the other a 455 HO Trans Am (balanced, bluepriinted 7.4 litres of muscle) putting out over 400 bhp. The noise of those V8's was absolutely fantastic. Yes, they handled like 10 ton trucks on slicks, and wouldn't stop, but we are talking noise here, not handling. I've always had V8's - can't beat them in my honest humble opinion.
Ahhh, those were the days - 7mpg if I was lucky!!!!

I do like the sound of Mercedes-benz G55 AMG kompressor and sound of Porsche Techart Magnum.

Btw, got installed Arden exhaust system (quad tips)... Now my S/C sounds pretty good Smile I'll get some pics later Smile 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500

I think the BMW X5 4.4i sounds really nice, NO DON'T SHOOT ME Big Cry
I don't really like the sporty sound of an M6 or an RS4.

Talking about engine-sounds, does the RRS 4.4 V8 make a nice sound?
Probably not as good as the S/C, but I'm more interested in the 4.4 V8 Smile

Yeah e53 (x5) sounds great... if you like sound of 4.4... then you might like the sound of 4.8iS - it's just wonferful... deep and noble.

- 4.8iS... but the video is of poor quality so you won't hear how wonferful it actually is. 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500
