removing standard stereo

anyone taken out the standard stereo and fitted another double din unit with the seperate surround.if so any pics pls and was it easy to do,just wanted something that is more compatable with my iphone.

I think you'll find there are plenty of easier ways to make the car iPhone friendly instead of changing the existing ICE unit.

What year of car do you have? There are a number of interfaces available that make the iPhone a plug and play addition to the ICE system.

its a 2007 hse,my lad has a single din unit in his car which displays who is ringing you and also you can scroll through your phone book by using the volume button.

Smurf, sounds like you need an updated BT module rather than a head unit. I am making this statement on the assumption that your car is bluetooth enabled (red and green buttons on the steering wheel), if this is correct then PM member Wiggs who can sort you out with an updated module. Then you can see your address book etc on the screen on the stereo. Thumbs Up

Smurf...Simon's hit the nail right on the head. My 2008 model has Blue Tooth and displays caller I/D from the contacts list when I have incoming or outgoing calls. Ra-Ro Sport Super Dooper Charged.

Firstly, thanks for the advice about the BT upgrade (ordered a module from Wiggs)
But secondly p Censored ed off that Smurf's problem has been resolved as really wanted that audio head!!! BMW 530D 2011 still here
