My rrs 2011 has problems at service

I have taken my rrs to an approved dealer near Bristol for a service I told them my gear box auto seems to be sluggish. They ran a software update and tested it again without any success so they will keep the car until they find the fault? Has anyone experienced this and would the gear box be covered on warranty? RRS

If its only one year old (2011) then yes, it should be fully covered under the warranty.

Flappies have been an option from 2009 onwards but became standard from the 2012 model, if its in drive and you are setting off from standstill then you motor is setting off in 2nd gear, they all do, thats why you think its slow selecting the next gear, its actually changing up to 3rd not 2nd due to the torque of these diesel engines. Thumbs Up This might go some way to explaining your problem.

rrs sc does not have flappy paddles, but it does have a grear stick rather than the dial. (i personally dont like the dial and paddles) I checked in the dealers last week. The sc does not come with the 8 speed box. is yours diesel or petrol sc?
your issue will probably be just a faulty sensor.

Thanks Ady sounds like you know what your talking about. The dealer also tested it after the software downloaded and said its not right it's as if it's stuck in 1st and will not go into 2nd until revs ars higher. It wasn't behaving like this when it was new, ie 6mths ago? RRS

Craig, you could try changing your gear in command shift see if it changes gear quicker and as it should Thumbs Up What also could be happening Craig, the gearbox learns your driving style, this might be the case if you have been taking it steady for the first 6 months, it might just need to learn a new style of driving but teach it through the command shift for a while. ie setting off in 1st everytime.

Ady I you referring to pushing it into sport with the gear stick to the left, is this command shift? I have been driving short distances of late and I never drive it like I would a supercharged....more like driving miss daisy! Strange they kept it in.

On a separate note what is your rrs it looks incredible! RRS

Yes craig, slip it into sport mode it will show "S" on your dash, push it forward and it will select 1 then when you pull it back it will select 2 and so on Thumbs Up to drop down a gear push it forward, it tells you what gear you are in on the dash, drive it around like this for a while giving it a few beans and it should get better when in drive, and stop driving it like mrs daisy Laughing give it some stick now and again when its warmed up and blow them cobwebs off it. Thumbs Up More Pics of my motor are in my gallery Thumbs Up

Thanks craig Thumbs Up Its not an A/B but it has got the A/B kit on from factory, the only difference in the kit from the full A/B kit is the front and side grills. The exhausts are A/B tips again factory to match the rear bumper Thumbs Up
