Another broken Windscreen !!

In the words of Victor Meldrew..... I DON'T BELIEVE IT! Big Cry Big Cry

I've just had another broken Windscreen, That makes 3 in a year Shocked I was hit by a small stone thrown
up by a passing car and CRACK another 12 inch long break in the screen. Is there a general problem with these screens? I have never had a car that has suffered so many breaks (not even my 2007 RRS). These screens seem to just go so easily? Anyone else had this issue? 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I had two crack in a week...I'm hoping it's just a "luck of the draw" type thing. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Ouch man sorry to hear that. Just curious, how much does it cost for you to fit a brand new one? Sad

Hope my crack doesn't get bigger - so to speak.... Jon Witts

It'll only cost me the £60 excess charge on my Insurance but I think they are about £600 - £700 for a new one if it's LR OEM one. Not sure how much the non OEM ones are. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I had 3 on my 1st RRS - 1st screen was £1050 cost IIRC Shocked - not sure whether screen angle contributes to risk or not?

2nd & 3rd RRS OK so far Whistle

Im not really talking about windscreens, but on the LR none LR part more generally - Do people understand how parts work?

Its much more complicated than just a badge stamped on or a different box - ive seen this first hand. Sometimes its just about quality control, other times its about quality of parts used, tolerances, i was shocked to see fuel filters fail quality control and go off the line to become pattern parts!

Anyway dont give them any excuse to faff with the warranty Mike

I'd like someone who knows parts to explain what the 8 different identifying numbers on each windscreen are (they're identical "non-OEM" vs "OEM") Laughing
