Good deal?

Hi folks

I am hunting for a 2005/2006 RRS with as low a mileage as possible. I have seen and driven the car on the attached link which is being sold by Stratstone Newport. I have read the mixed (ok, generally less than flattering!) views on Stratstone generally but I wondered if someone out there with a wiser head than mine could comment on whether this car is for sale at a reasonable price (I will be asking for a 12 month warranty).

Any info much appreciated.

Thank you.

T

Re: Good deal?

If its an approved car it will come with a warranty anyway.
One thing to think about is selling on, HSE is way more popular. 2015 Golf R DSG
Gone 2013 Mercedes C220 CDi AMG Sport Plus
Gone 2008 2.7 RRS HSE

To be honest although it looks a tidy motor its far too expensive for the base model with no extras, its probably worth about 15k tops, you could do a lot better for 19k unless you don't like the toys of the HSE model then look out for a newer S model, if you are buying from a main L/R dealer you will get a minimum 12 month warranty, hope this helps. Thumbs Up

Thanks Nik. I think the standard warranty for cars of this age/mileage is 6 months, but I am going to ask for 12 months.

I am going to be keeping the car for a long time so resale value is hopefully not really an issue, although I totally agree that HSE is much more popular/attractive.

Cheers
T

I agree with Ady, it looks a tidy example but is over priced.

I only paid a slightly more for a HSE of the same age and mileage from Stratstone Bury (With 12 months warranty) LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

Thank you guys, this is a tremendous help.

Out of interest, if you were to put a offer to Stratstone, what sum would you offer?

Thanks

Crapstones don't usually do discounts from my personal experience, thats why ive never bought a car from them, they have a weird pricing structure, ask X5PEA a fellow member on here what his magic book says its worth then use that as a guide, that model was only about 35k if that when new i'm sure its lost more than 15k in 6 years hence my first post.

Bad Deal

Retail is only 17895, with the trade price 14,900

S model is very basic missing options means no NAV which is a biggy IMO.

Terrible resale unless they are cheap and if you ever try to part ex your getting peanuts for it, which is what capstones will have done.

As ADY said i be looking to retail this at around 15-16k at a push, which means an achievable 12-13k trade value. Laughing
