Intermittent HDC Fault On Startup

lo all,

I have an intermittent HDC Fault Service Unavailable on startup, it only happens first thing in the morning when its been parked up over night, but then again not every morning. I also get the Special programs off error message as well at the same time mostly.

As well as this after having the engine on for around 3-5 mins driving or idle I will get the amber suspension light on as well.

I am beginning to wonder whether I need a new battery because of these errors and also due to the fact that I know that this is the original battery on the car from new and my RRS is a 55 plate.

I would rather have a little bit of guarantee that a new battery will solve these issues before buying one, on this subject can anyone suggest the best place for a new battery and which sort to get?

Thanks

James

start the car, with no brake pressed, does it do it then, if not press the brake see if that fires it, i had it a few days ago tuned out to be the brake switch, simple fix.

but 95% of the web indicates battery.

It does it without putting your foot on the pedals.

Battery and/or alternator goosed. If it's the original battery it's telling you it's had enough. Thumbs Up

Ok thanks guys.

I think I will go out and get a new battery tomorrow.

Is the BOSCH S4 battery OK for a diesel RRS?

If it was me I'd stick to the OEM one. The D3/RRS alternator works at a higher voltage than normal some batteries can't take that. The LR ones have a 3 year warranty and you can get 10% off with Allegance Discount. Thumbs Up

OK guys,

I went out yesterday and bought a new battery for my RRS, as one reason I had this HDC fault coming up intermittently and also I thought it was time because my car was still on the original battery. I think this has now cleared my HDC fault and Special Programs Off error that came up on startup intermittently.

However it hasnt cleared my suspension fault, initially I thought it had but after a little longer it appeared.

I have done a little bit of diagnosis on the suspension fault and a local garage have already told me its the air compressor thats knackered and needs replacing.

So when I turn the car on all is fine and I have no errors at all, I can lower and raise the suspension until my hearts content. At any random point the amber suspension light comes on and says access height only, when this comes on I cannot lower or raise or do anything with the air suspension.

One other thing I have noticed is....... When I turn the car on and go round to the the rear passenger wheel where the compressor is I can hear it whirring away and working, however after around 5 mins ish it stops like someone as turned it off or disconnected it. Is this supposed to happen? Or is this the definative answer that my compressor is knackered.

I just want to be totally sure that it is the compressor causing my fault before forking the dosh out to buy a new one?

If anyone has any advice on the above I would appreciate it.

Thanks

James

I got this falt when the battery was knackered, changed the battery and everything was fine.
After I raise or lower the suspension a few times the suspension amber light comes on, switch the car off then back on and it clears it Shocked 2.7 TDV6

Big Ken:-

I have fitted a new battery though and I still have the suspension fault.

Mark Hamster:-

You need to upload the pics into your gallery profile first. When you have done that if you go into each picture in your gallery there is a BBcode at the bottom, just copy this code into your forum post.

Hope that helps.

James

Looks spot on mate.

I think you need the colour coded door handles and side vents then your done.

I prefer your tints and colour coded door sills, which I need to get done on mine!!

Wheels look the nuts on RRS though!!
