United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Hmmm, how much is the ARB bush replacement alone? Replacing two items and the knock goes just means that one of the replacements likely wasn't necessary but you'll never know which one. I'd be minded to get the cheaper item replaced first to see if that works.

If I was having the wishbone bushes done I'd get both sides of the car done at the same time. Both are likely to be similarly worn and having one good and one worn side is likely to be detrimental to the feel of the car. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I agree that replacing the cheaper part first is a good idea, and had I taken the car to an unknown repair centre then I would do just that. The guys at landranger are 100% sure it is the wishbone after looking at it. Ref doing both, they checked the other and it was fine, at £300+ each side, for now it has to wait........ If it was a sports car then I'd agree that the handling may be impaired, a big heavy RRS.. If I'm honest, they handle pretty bad anyway (no dynamic pack on mine).

Thumbs Up

My rrs tdv6 makes the same noise as mixy described, I had a good look at all the joints etc. the only play was in the lower balljoints, they are available from land rover at only £30 each which is a fair saving on the price of a new wishbone. I have bought a pair but not done the job as yet, looks like the wishbone might have to be removed and the joint removed and new fitted in a press, so there is a labour charge to consider but should work out less than a new wishbone, hopes this helps

Okay, now I'm thinking.... This is the plan, call landranger and check their diagnosis armed with the thoughts above. I am 99% sure they are right. They don't seem like an outfit that over charges. Had it been a LR dealer, I would be more concerned. I work in the motor trade and these days dealers just seem to replace parts until the problem goes a way..... Especially if the computer says no....

Update;

One new NSF lower wishbone, genuine LR part, fitted for £225+VAT, job done. The ARB bushes were fine.

Thanks to land ranger in Stockport for doing an honest, well priced job. I would recommend these guys and will be back in a few months to sort a cam belt service.
