Scotland 2013 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Bali Blue
New Car

Finally got the new RRS 3.0 HSE. and have clocked up 460 miles in 5 days. Can't stop driving the thing. It seems so much better than the previous 2.7.
The new 8 speed box is a dream. Well so far anyway.
Any comments, recomendations or cautions to be aware of?

Nope, just get out there and enjoy it. Thumbs Up

I'm finding the 8 speed box a little bit errrr well put it another way on approach to a roundabout or junction and its clear to continue without actually stopping you put your foot down and it has to think about it before it decides what gear to select by the time its decided what gear to choose because it doesn't respond immediately i put my foot down further to make the thing respond and then it takes off like a bullet Shocked not ideal if you are carrying clients, surely it should respond better than this Question but if you don't put your foot down just enough it sounds like its trying to pull in too higher gear which it is Rolling Eyes its as though its lacking throttle response, anyone else noticed this with the 8 speed box Question they say the gearbox learns your driving style but is this the case with the 8 speed box or has my box got dyslexia Question Laughing

Ady - Maybe the gearbox has learnt your style and has just decided you're...............errr......... a bit.........a bit of a hesitant driver Whistle Laughing

I'll be honest, I'm not sure that the car does learn your style, I think it might me just a S/C thing. This along with the dynamic mode adjusting throttle response and steering still seems to be a grey area with no one confirming exactly if it does it our not Confused

In the 5 months I've had my RRS, it's done what you described a handful of times, so not something of too much concern for me. I experienced a similar 'characteristic' when I had my BMW E60 5 series, only that was pretty much at every junction/roundabout that you approached, making for some interesting journey's. Shocked

I do know what you mean about the.............. nothing, nothing, nothing.........still nothing......WHOOOSH we're off Shocked though. On one occasion, my son in the back was leaning forward a little out of his seat and ended up being pinned flat back to the seat which he found highly amusing, .............although Mrs Bean didn't quite see it that way and commented that my driving was 'getting worse' Rolling Eyes Rolling with laughter

Will be interesting to see if its a broader problem and if LR tweak the gearbox software at any point in the future Idea ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I clocked up 600 miles in the 2 weeks I had left on leave and didn't notice any lag in the drive train take up. I had a Volvo XC90 before and this was terrible for a power/drive lag when you pulled out of a junction or entered a roundabout.

I must admit that a few people I took out as passengers commented on how smooth the gear changes were. I had read reports and reviews that the 8 speed box is constantly searching for the correct gear, but haven't experienced it so far.

Since I've been away Mrs Jim has been out in the car every bloody day. One of my daughters dropped me an e mail telling me that her FL2 was slowly being covered in a layer of dust and birds crap. Laughing

The one thing that she says does worry her is where to park it. She constantly worries that it will get keyed or Censored by a car door or supermarket trolley.

Jim

Can't say I've noticed this gearbox feature. Mind you I'm still being a little gently yet. New car and all that. Now up to 643 miles. Mini tour to Oban yesterday. Just can't fault it as yet. It thinks it's doing 37 MPG???? I'll check that shortly. Seems a bit questionable but don't care. other than the tax ripoff. OOps musn't be grumpy.
