Ok, ok, I know there will be a thread on here somewhere but.....why the he'll haven't Land Rover wired up my led's to be on all the time? It's obvious isn't it? Even my 2010 Lotus Elise which is hardly the most advanced piece of engineering in the world has daytime LEDs!

The LEDs in the headlights aren't DRLs, you need to spec those additionally for about £400 IIRC.

I'm guessing they're only available to people who know how apostrophes work! (Admittedly some people accept the use of an apostrophe in plurals but the cases where it is correct are limited and certainly don't include "LED's", "DRL's" etc.)

A couple of days ago i found out why that was when it happened to me for 2 minutes. I had all the lights on, fog etc and clearly after 10 minutes whilst still very foggy it was bright enough to convince the RR that it didnt need to have the lights on and turned them off. Also because it was bright and the screen is backlit i didnt notice and 50mph means the needle covers the green headlamp illuminator/warning A quick manual override and we were away - but a few new modern cars i could see suffering the same - bright enough for the sensor but low enough vis to require full front and rear fogs. So as much as most BMW owners are like hedgehogs - this one probably isnt them! Mike 2014 Facelift Discovery |

Am I right in thinking that daytime lights will be compulsory soon? Also, why put such nicely designed LEDs on a light cluster if you are only going to have them on when your main lights are on?

I'd ban auto lights. You're driving; you should be conscious of conditions e.g. light levels and the need to turn lights on or not. Same with auto wipers. You're driving a potentially lethal machine - take some bloody responsibility for your actions/inaction. Don't rely on the car to think for you. Grrrrrrrr.

Auto Wipers and Lights can be a good thing about - wipers ensure they are on just right for the conditions and ensure your focus is 100% on the road and not split between wipers and road, plus give you one less thing to consider. Lights - thats time saving, they do no harm and mostly are on more than off - they are aids and dont remove your involvement just reduce your input Most road users are not aware and not able to multi-task, they should try flying IFR single crew that will push multi-tasking and awareness Mike 2014 Facelift Discovery |
