Urgent - Help!

My beloved RRS is due into the body shop tomorrow after some clown reversed into me, smashing the rear drivers side corner.

As a result, I've had to purchase a brand new rear apron Sad

Unfortunately now, the boot wont open and the battery is being constantly drained. Has anybody any ideas before I incur further cost by sending it in to my local LR garage???

Also, the parking sensor assistance has stoped working too Big Cry

Sensible helpful answers only please Smile

Is the boot not opening because of the battery drain or because of the accident Question I'm sure the boot will need power from the battery to open the boot. There maybe a wire broke on one of the parking sensors Idea

Thanks for the response Smile

No, quite simply since the bump, the boot will not open. If I dont start the engine for a day or so, the battery goes flat so I presume there is a connection between the two?! Maybe a lose wire or something

Just wondered if anybody had experienced a similar scenario...

Found this in another post, not sure if it's that helpful as you say your parking sensors dont work either but here goes anyway:

"not sure if this will help, but ive had a drain on mine as well called the aa out twice to jump
start me after i had not use the beast for 24hrs,now after that i noticed that the tailgate
would not open, searched for any hints and it seems there is a known problem with the boot
latch corroding and remaining live so draining the battery,so try your upper boot release if
its not working that may be it,worth a try." 12MY RRS Orkney Grey HSE Lux

Oh mate, thats really great help. I'll feed that info over to the body shop guys now and see if they can fix it instead of me messing taking it to the LR garage.

I really appreciate your help!! Very Happy

my boot actually stopped working entirely and I claimed under the LR warranty for a new one. There's something odd like a wire/circuit that runs through the tailgate glass? and a control junction box. ============

marc it will be you upper tailgate switch that is causing your battery drain if the switch is corroded this will drain your battery and stop your boot from opening Thumbs Up
