Hi I can vouch for Peter and bells autos I too have a 3.6 tdv8 and since the simple ecu upgrade I have a big grin also with the bas kit you can return the car to the factory map at any time ie service with dealer and then you can put the tuned map back on Range rover Sport tdv8 with bas touch

Having read the BAS website, when returning car to the dealers for service etc you use the supplied tool to put the original map back on the car, then reinstate the upgreaded map once you get your car back and the dealer is none the wiser. Dont see how it can affect the resale value if you dont tell anyone Quite a few people put there car back to standard before selling then sell the BAS remap tool on here. RRS TDV8 (loving it)

Why do you say that? The cars aren't individually mapped at the factory so why wouldn't a standard after market map be just as good? |

Just take a look on flea-bay at the cheap plug in maps for sale, these are one map fits all, where as if you go to a reputable company like the ones mentioned you are getting a map fine tuned to your car only therefore getting the very best out of your engine for power, torque and reliability. i'd prefer a remap off a reputable company i can contact for help tips and advice. i cant really comment on the cheaper maps for sale simply because i havn't ever used them nor whould i want to on a motor as expensive as a range rover sport. |

I'd definitely go for a bespoke remap , rather than a tuning box. A lot of these boxes just fool the system into over fueling to get their gains, not a very sophisticated way to operate tbh. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Because when re-mapping your are reducing the safety margins LR wrote into the standard generic map...so it makes more sense that any increase in boost/fuel pressure should be custom mapped rather than "one size fits all" just in case your engine behaves differently with the greater power demand As Ady probably knows already.. no 2 engines are ever the same. there are so many factors that the ecu controls, resulting in as much as 20-40bhp difference when leaving the factory! So by sticking a generic chip on the lower powered engine, you could be exposing it to a possible failure the ecu was actually protecting it from. With a custom map..the ecu still knows all the facts and is not being lied to by a "middle man"..thus it's 30000% safer RRS gone Audi SQ5...Gone Audi Q7 S-Line 240 3.0TDI Gone Audi A6 Allroad Sport 270 3.0TDI |

Yes thats true you reduce the safety margins but why does it have to be a company who specializes in LR who does it? Why cant it be Joe blogs down the road who also does custom maps? |

I haven't even bought my RRS yet, I was just wondering why you mentioned it, after all a specialist engine tuner should be able to work with a variety of engines, at the end of the day an engine is an engine and they all work in the same way. |
