Cruise Control

I have recently bought a 2008 sport and the adaptive cruise control really iritates me.
Is there any way of disconecting the 'adaptive' part of the system?
Hope someone out there can help

If the sensor gets 'blocked' e.g. by snow, then you get a message saying the active system is not available. So presumably one could engineer a way of blocking the sensor. Or perhaps see if there is a separate fuse for the active portion of the cruise system?

I like active cruise so it's not something I've looked in to... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

+1 Thumbs Up

The only time I do not use it is in the wet - be warned! I had a very bad experience when using it on the M25 in the rain I was coming past a petrol tanker that was kicking out a lot of spray. I was in the fast lane doing about 65/70mph with the adaptive cruise control on and cars behind me, nothing in front of me! I got along side the petrol tanker when suddenly the adaptive cruise hit the breaks hard!! Lucky for everybody I always drive with a foot over the peddles and I hit the gas peddle quick and over rode the system. The adaptive must have picked up the spray being kicked out by the tanker thinking it was something solid! The guy behind me almost span out and I'm sure if I hadn't been so quick to react and over rode the system with my right foot it would have almost certainly caused a catastrophe pile up!! In the dry it's fine!! Cheers Laurence.

I like the active cruise as well. Thumbs Up

You should be careful in the wet though, as above and even 'normal' cruise can aquaplane in the wet too.

In some countries it is illegal to use any cruise control when it's raining (Belguim is one I think).

+1 for the dont like active cruise - maybe it wasnt customisable enough or maybe it was too hard - but i never liked it and was glad i dont have it now.

Could you unplug the sensor - there is definitely some active cruise ECU options, maybe there is one to disable? Mike
