Prevention is better than a cure, there is enough posts on here about spare wheels being stolen, there is also a product on here widely advertised for sale and recommended by many on here but you still get people ignoring good sensible advice then posting on here saying they have had their spare wheel stolen, i'm sorry for not sharing your sorrow, but you could have saved yourself all the hassle of replacing your spare wheel and winch if you had of bought one earlier, hence my original post trying to warn others this could happen to them. Please don't take this personally. I hope you get this sorted asap.

I think it's the new winch mechanism they are fitting as standard to MY12 cars.
There's a post by T800L on here showing it I believe. Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I think it's a bit of both. There is a lots of common sense stuff you can do to minimise your chance of being a victim of crime, but ultimately it's not your fault if you still are. ============

I agree, but if people reading this don't have a security device and takes it as a warning, then we won't have the next person on here being a victim of crime reporting the same theft. As said above prevention is better than a cure. Thumbs Up

Not that I want to spoil the surprise, but it's just metal casing on the spring.
