The TDV8 will give better mpg. But if the best mpg is your aim then you'd be better off with TDV6.

idealy it would be a tdv8 but if they are on a par (4.2 and 3.6) ive driven a 2.7 but thought it felt under powered?? ive seen a ice white 4.2 on autotrader! but liking either the black or stonaway grey.... |

The 2.7 is perfectly OK but you do drive it at 75% most of the time (if you're not a Sunday driver )

I have a TDV6 3.0 and I test drove a TDV8. I really like my 3.0... If I were in the UK I would've got a remap and then the TDV8 would be left behind... (I would not buy a 2.7 though...) True... As long as the hose from the gas station is still connected to the TDV8 I might be in trouble... RRS 2010 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black Volvo V60R D5 2011 Black Jaguar XKR Cab 2002 Blue Polaris Ranger 800HD Green John Deere 6430 Premium 2009 IVT, GPS, Very green Volvo L30B Pro 2012 Yellow |

thanks for the replies! i would say roughly around 12k a year the wife will use it daily to do around 40 50 miles motorway driving. Im afraid the budget wont strech to a MY10! wish it would!!1 |

If it's just the wife driving it up and down the motorway, get a 2.7V6 and save a few quid on purchase and running costs. It may be that a suitable remap on a 2.7 would give you enough "go" when you drive it whilst potentially giving her slightly better mileage figures on the work run too (assuming she doesn't drive enthusiatically). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
