I think I need new bushes on my 2005 RRS?

A good friend of mine has a garage just around the corner to me and has offered to take a look for me by way of raising it on the garage ramps. This is the type that supports the car on the 4 jacking points underneath the car leaving the wheels unsupported when the car is raised!! Can this be done? Will it damage the air suspension? The wheels will be left hanging down - will that be ok?? Cheers Laurence.

It won't harm the air suspension, but make sure the lifting equipment locates under the chassis,preferrably at the holes specifically for jacking at......... the body does not have any jacking points and will be damaged if he tried to lift it on that, also, do not let him lift it under the suspension compressor.  RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i

I'd heard you must leave the tailgate open when jacking to stop the car from trying to auto-level RRS gone

My garage usaly leave the tailgate open and puts the hazards on then once back on the ground you just need to reset the suspension.

So this is how it all went today!!

Did check the handbook and as suggested above it dose say to put the car in extended height so that’s what we did. And up she went on my mate's 3 tonne jack and it didn't sound happy about it either!! Seeing her with wheels left dangling down I was feeling very uneasy and had to go off for a walk around the corner!! I arrived back just in time to see her lowered back down wheels all akimbo I started her with bated breath expecting to see a Christmas tree display of lights flashing up on the dash with fault code listing!! But once started all the dash lights went off a message on the dash saying to reset the suspension - that’s what I did and all was OK!  Cheers Laurence.
