Is yours still running fine?? Mine still going strong

Mike - can you let us know if anything changes. Most people think about blanking when the EGRs have failed and with earlier Vins put on blanks when the EGRs have failed as a cost saving exercise.

Maybe the clue to yours working is the fact you also replaced the EGRs as well so maybe blanks do work as long as the egrs also work - maybe their sensor is more critical than the sensor that detects whether gas comes through to the engine.

Did you use blanks on the EGR or on the inlet port?

Cheers

Hi Garry I have no idea what blanks he used, the only thing he said was he spoke to his guy from land rover and he was promised it would work and I would NEVER have a problem with the EGR valves again. It's been a few weeks and still all fine

@Mike,
can you lets us know your VIN, this will help in determining which cars will possibly work and which not.

Mine is still running fine, not even pending codes.

@Garry,
You must leave the EGRs attached as they need to function, otherwise you get loads of codes. Why the ECU is not monitoring the actual flow (via the MAP sensor) beats me, as this is what the ECU should do. Maybe it is the latest ECU software that disables it.

It would help if others report there vin and ecu software level where it has failed to blank them off, we might get to the bottom of it. RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic

So far also my car is running fine. We may establish a range of cars that can be blanked of, so at least 8A123xxx and 8A158xxx are so far fine.

It would also be interesting to learn which cars did got errors back; maybe B.A.S. can chime in here? I have looked for posts, but I am missing which codes have been generated in them and without that info you can't say if blanking it of or not was the cause.

PS have now ordered a methanol kit, so that it will take care of the cleaning part of the intake. Only side effect is that you get more power, but he you can't have it all Wink. RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic

Am no expert on this so it is also a trail for me (with prime purpuse to cleanup inside), but choose the Stage 3 kit from cooling mist:

There are other brands and cheaper kits, but I was charmed about the 2 nozzle setup amongst others. RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic

So far I have not noted any (pending) codes, am still puzzled as to why the P0401 is not popping up.

Have found some more detailed info about how the ECU measures the EGR operation for the Jaguar version (same engine/ECU):

I will try the coming week to do more/longer decelerations also from higher speeds as the ECU will only check the flow on decelerations.

@Mike
Could you do the same? You need to let off the gas and let the car rollout. When I see the table the duration of the deceleration should be at least 4.6 seconds. RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic

So far also here everything is fine, am still puzzled actually as to why.

There is a side effect though, I seem to be getting about 2 to 3 mpg more

I have bought the blanking kit from bas, but any will do... RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic
