To all those that are trying their RRS in the snow. Remember the standard low profile tyres have a very limited ability in these conditions, whether the car is 4 wheel drive or not. When nearly 3 tonnes of RRS loses traction you are not going to stop easily! Now, put decent winter tyres on the car and you wil be amazed at the difference. Thumbs Up
P.S. We've got NO snow here in Aberdeenshire!! Confused It's a topsy turvy old world! Laughing Laughing

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

So, I finally got the opportunity to try out the 'Ice and Snow' program on my wife's RSS yesterday - what an amazing bit of jiggery pokery that is!

yesterday as we headed over some hills towards my mothers place in Wales, the roads were becoming more and more covered with snow and at one point on the route there is a very steep hill that comes immediately off a cross roads (so imagine, you are already on an up hill but have to come to a halt on the hill and then cross the road to climb this even steeper hill - are you with me so far?!!)

Anyhow, I stopped at the cross roads and selected 'Ice and Snow' (as up to there I hadn't bothered or felt the need to) and was totally amazed at how it changed the set up of the car - it changes the throttle response, gear changes and other bits and the car just pulled away from a standing start and climbed this hill without any hint of wheel slip or fuss. Even braking seemed to be better as the ABS seemed to be less aggressive in some way (but could have been my imagination)

I used to marvel at our old Discovery 2 but this just seemed to make even less of a fuss at the white stuff!

Top marks! Wife's Car: BLACK RRS TDV8 HSE with all the bits Smile
My Car: Lotus Exige S2 PP & TP Smile)

England 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

Took mine out in the snow last night with the winter tyres on and I didn't even need to select the snow setting Thumbs Up

The range dealt with the conditions without a murmur whilst all the town taxis were going sideways rather than up the hills in the town.

I think it would have to get really bad or indeed for the car to be stuck before I needed the snow setting Thumbs Up Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

Well it's chucking it down here in the Pyranees (surprise surprise)
just went out briefly and going down a hill on a wide easy hairpin (ie not too tight)
with my Conti winter contacts on at 5mph .....and foot not on accelerator.......
I STILL WENT SIDEWAYS..... very unnerving having to apply a little power to see you through the bend...
I couldnt do it......luckily got grip just before impacting the kerb..... Whistle Whistle
Such a sense of helplessness...... Bow down
Sorry guys..... but I think for these roads and conditions when snowing i'm going to buy a Panda 4x4... Idea
Frankly.... with what it will cost with one good old smack... it'll pay for itself.....

The RRS is great on the flat.... and on an incline..... but going downhill.... well you cant mess with the science of it !!! ! 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

Umm, fairly sure that a body kit doesn't affect the car's ability to find traction in snow... Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
