Well, aremed with nothing but courage and an element of stupidity I decided to see if it was working this morning. Start the car, open the bonet, let it run for a couple of minutes and feel the exhaust of the FBH.

Ok - so why do some of them smoke like f and why do some just calmly warm up the car as they should do? Surely this demonstrates a fault on the very smoky ones. Mine falls in to the latter category... Jaguar XKR Convertible

The white "smoke" looks like unburnt diesel fumes from the FBH rather than smoke from the combustion of fuel.

My guess is that a seized or failed combustion fan/motor in the unit could cause these symptoms.
